I'd like him to stay but if he wants to go, we better get a player in return.
They have a few good young players there if we can't get an established player.
Hudson Young has looked good on the edge the last couple of weeks, Harley Smith-Shields has some class about him, primarily a centre but can play fullback, Tom Starling didn't look out of place on Thursday, Emre Guler looks like he'll be a strong middle forward.

Money & glory grabbing ****. If anyone honestly believes this is about the board not supporting him during his exile they've got rocks in their head.

He's an unfortunate example of how players have been utterly destroyed by their managers in this day and age. At the slightest sniff of more money, or difficult times the player kicks up a fuss and agitates a move. I really hope that NRL puts their foot down soon when it comes to managers or it'll become like the EPL in no time.

In saying that, as supporters we can't entirely whinge as for us to get decent players such as Cotric they'll need to be enticed by the $$ rather than a little common sense or loyalty. What player would sign up to our mess these days? Greedy ones if I'm honest so live by the sword, die by the sword.

Thats not his issue.

His issue is the club hung him out to dry and didnt back him. He did not break the law and his offence was different to knockonbur. Not too long ago everyone here was saying the spineless club should have backed him.

Now that CHN is saying the same thing everyone is losing it? pssht.
Back him for what? He broke team protocols. He knew he was doing the wrong thing yet he allowed his little head to take control.

The club lost a sponsor because of the actions of the 2 players.

Forget the media side they will always be hypocritical & you can never win with them..

But with CHN the Bulldogs club is hypocritical.. the club was disappointed at him then & put out a strong worded statement in public against him..

Now the Bulldogs club wants him to stay..

Does that mean all the club said back then was incorrect or has our club changed its mind and had a change of heart?
No it doesn't. The club was within its rights to criticise the players. They were penalised, the players served their time and the contracts were reinstated. They are now contracted to the Club. Okunbur has done the right thing and apologised. CHN hasn't.

Article is shit .
Now what I don’t understand and can someone explain it to me

He was deregistered by nrl and sacked by the club , he has appealed it and won .
Shouldn’t the existing contract in place be in his favour - ie if he wants to stay as per original contract conditions he can stay , but if he wants to go he is free to do so as he was sacked and essentially contract broken by club .
I just don’t understand how the club can keep him or demand swap if he doesn’t want too
Contract was not broken by the Club.

Of course the club was within its right to publicly criticise the player.. But now that appeals committee has a different view of the incident the club wants to reinstate him?.. But the facts of the incidents havent changed..

So the clubs position against CHN has changed only because of the view NRL comitee.. it means the club does not stand by what they initially said about CHN..

Because if the club did stand by what they said about CHN then why would they want to reinstate him? The facts of the incident has not changed..

But whys his manager saying there’s animosity clearly something went down
Same as Elliott is whinging to anyone and everyone that the club put him under the bus and didn't support him with the mad Monday charges. Thats the main reason he wants out too.

What goes out to the media and what happens inside the club are 2 different things

The question is though , how much support should the club give, or do the players need to grow up and act like adults?

Smith-Shields has played abit of wing too. Would love for us to sign him, but after losing Cotric he's one they won't lose.

I don't get why okunbor has not mentioned the club abandoned him and CHN is making it a headline. Out of the 2 I had a preference for the latter to return but now I feel okunbur has shown to be a grand character and obviously is guided by a stable family support group.
I would welcome him to redeem his wrongs.

They have a valid contract. The club stand by the decision of the NRL and the appeals committee. The players served their sentence and it's time to move on. That's what mature grown ups do. They don't soon like CHN who is doing this for money.

Kiwi Test backrower Corey Harawira-Naera wants an immediate release from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to join last year’s grand finalists the Canberra Raiders

The Bulldogs held mediation talks aimed at convincing Harawira-Naera to re-join the Belmore club on Friday.

But if the Kiwi Test backrower gets his way he’ll be headed to the national capital to join the Green Machine alongside New Zealand teammates Jordan Rapana and Joe Tapine.

The Bulldogs are kidding themselves the way they’ve tried to spin the blame back onto the NRL about how Harawira-Naera was frozen out of the club.

Can you blame him for not wanting to wear the Canterbury-Bankstown jumperagain?

Let’s go back over what Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill said when he fronted the media on March 11.

“The conduct not only breaches the clubs code of conduct, it is not reflective of the standards and values we have tried to instil in our players.”

Then in the media release ticked off on by Hill and chair Lynne Anderson from April 1, the day Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor were deregistered by the NRL.

“The conduct of the two players, on the eve of our final trial match, demonstrated an unacceptable lack of respect for their teammates, their coach and club officials, our hosts in Port Macquarie and fans of the game everywhere,” the statement read.

“An important part of the role of being a professional rugby league player is to promote the game and act as an ambassador for your club and the code.

“There can be no tolerance for any abuse of the privileged status the game affords its leading players.”

The Bulldogs are still trying to blame Harawira-Naera and Okunbor for costing them a $2 million sponsorship with Rashays restaurant chain over the Port Macquarie pre-season scandal.

In reality, there’s people at Canterbury-Bankstown who will tell you the sponsorship was going to be worth nowhere near that much.

After the NRL Appeals Committee overturned the initial deregistration bans handed out to the Bulldogs players, Canterbury-Bankstown must how back pay the players until April 1.

This could get them in a salary cap jam given how tight the club has always told the media their salary cap situation is until 2021.

Releasing Harawira-Naera could be able to solve any salary cap issues.

On Monday, the Bulldogs board and club bosses remained split on whether they wanted to welcome Harawira-Naera and Okunbor back at Belmore.

By Wednesday, that had all changed as influential figures on the board went to work and got everyone on the same page.

It’s pointless keeping a player who does not want to be at your club.

It becomes toxic for all involved and you are better off cutting your losses.

Bulldogs chair Anderson and CEO Hill met with Harawira-Naera on Friday to begin the process of thrashing out a resolution.

The Bulldogs now want to keep the Kiwi Test backrower despite no club bosses contacting him after he was deregistered by the NRL and sacked by Canterbury-Bankstown.

So even tough the Bulldogs were prepared to sack him in April, under the Appeals Committee ruling Harawira-Naera is now still signed with Canterbury-Bankstown until the end of 2022.

Anderson was the one calling the shots in Friday’s meeting, where Harawira-Naera apologised for his part in what happened in Port Macquarie and the subsequent fallout.

Bulldogs CEO Hill was given a round of applause at NRL headquarters for the way he handled the scandal in February and March.

Harawira-Naera’s management remains furious the Kiwi Test backrower was called to an interview and grilled by Hill without legal representation.

The whole scenario is a complete car crash and it’s easy to understand why Harawira-Naera wants a fresh start at another club.

The Bulldogs should let him go.
I disagree on many things with the current management and won't lose sleep if they are gone,
In my opinion they should have shown better support to the players this is what family do, we are the family club aren't we ???
To James Blooper Hooper
The haters the media and the NRL applauded the club for their swift actions, don't you remember that Blooper ?
Maybe they were happy supporting us fall apart !
You said the scenario is a complete car crash
I will tell you this Blooper You are a total accident...I believe no decent parents would intentionally conceive and bring into the world a scum like you !!!
I just wonder, what you did do to get this journalist job ?
Because you certainly aren't one !!!

Okunbor deserved to be deregistered for what he did. I would be supportive of him being sacked too despite his apology. We lost the sponsor because of him, we may lose CHN because of him and it will be difficult to do work in schools because of him.
