That's because his replacement is even more shite. All of our HB pass the same, way too early before the line and they don't attract any defenders to create the gap for our runners. The defence already knows where the ball is going when our HB has the ball.
As Andrew Johns said several times, a great HB needs to have courage to run to the line knowing they'll get smashed to create the opportunity for their runners and then get up and do it again during the whole game. Avo, Wakeham and Flanno do none of that.
add burton to that.

That's because he's being used to mainly kick the ball on the last with his big boot as Wakeham and co can barely kick it past 30m. Time for Baz to do what coach Murray did with Thurston and build the team around Burton and make him the playmaker. The fact is if Avo, Wakeham, Flanno and Burton were on the market now as a spine player there would be at around a dozen teams lining up for Burton. There would be none for the other 3.

Burton is not Thurston, not even close. Burton is doing fuck all as a halfback in our team.

>"Burton is not Thurston, not even close."
I'm talking about Thurston at the end of his first year in first grade 2004 compared to Burton first year.
What did Thurston achieve in 2004 compared to Burton last year? Did Thurston win a Dally M in 2004?

Burton is the "6" at the moment.
What is your suggestion? To have the 3 stooges Avo, Wakeham and Flanno as our main playmaker? How is that going at the moment?

atm it's Wakeham who is playing 7 and the role of the main playmaker. Wakeham is setting up heaps of tries and breaks at the moment isn't he?

My suggestion is the same as what it's always been and it's to scrap the system and start from scratch. Burton is ridiculously overhyped, dudes a Brown/Munter type isn't ever going to be close to a JT.

Can someone please explain the thought process of the following;

For the entire offseason Barrett had Jake Averillo training at halfback

The first 2 rounds Jake was playing halfback and than dropped him in Round 3 to cup, bringing in Wakeham and Schoupp

So Come round 4 now, Barrett drops a centre in Schoupp and also overlooks 2 other centres from cup whoever they are.

He dropped Averillo last week as he wasn't cutting the mustard playing halfback, to go and play halfback in cup and than brings him back a week later to play centre in first grade

Am i missing something?
Averillo isn't a halfback. It's not hard. He's a utility not a specialist player. Bit like an MBye. Many on here suggested Averillo was best suited to centre. So Baz tried him there now, he failed, so we can more forward from that now. His best position is LRO.
