CA knew when the grounds would be available & should have scheduled their season to fit it in a week earlier. It has been one big cock-up the cricket schedule this year. I wonder why I am losing interest? That & playing the only real white ball games on Amazon Prime. Geez CA Sh$t me.

I don't really have a major beef with this.

The (perhaps sad) reality is that the Adelaide Oval, gabba, mcg and scg are footy grounds these days. Especially Adelaide and Melbourne. AFL is the reason why the AO was renovated.

I don't know anything about the ground bring used as a replacement, but if the final was being played here in Brisbane, Allan border field would be a better place to watch the game tbh.

(Notwithstanding the above: I think Sheffield Shield is super important. It's a major reason why Australia has dominated at test level for so long. As a uni student, I'd love a day at the SCG watching whilst I pretended to be studying. At $5 is was awesome value too :grinning: ).

That is a disgrace & he should have been made to play & if not that's the end of his contract. That's modern sport I guess.

I don't like the players skipping for IPL either but at least there is a decent excuse there.

I think his excuses were two fold:

- He wanted to rest because of hectic scheduling etc.
- he believed it was better for those who have been playing all season / the younger guys to have a go.

Sure, the international schedule is busy (and he's now the oldest player in international test cricket I know of), but it was only a generation ago guys like Michael Clarke would put his hand up to play club cricket when available.

Although Ussie isn't playing T20, franchise cricket has really changed the landscape...
Speaking of t20, I was at a charity/networking lunch yesterday and Chris Lynn was the guest speaker. Guy come across to me as a right knob.
