Hi All Cricketing Enthusiasts,

Its Summer again, so that means a new thread.

Domestically, the Sheffield Shield is underway (with the One Day cup seemingly added on as an afterthought) and the Big Bash Around the Corner.

Nationally the men have Pakistan (or, as Tong Greig would say - Pawkistawn) visiting for a quick blink and you'll miss it ODI/T20 series starting in Melbourne on 4 November. Taking CroydonPup to his first game at the Gabba on 14/11.

Then India arrives for an historic 5 test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Thankfully its 5, so the Gabba gets a game. India will arguably be better prepared than Australia with a 2 test series in India v NZ then a one off game against its own India A in Perth before the first test. Oddly, the PMXI game is on in Canberra between the 1st and 2nd tests.

The Australian women, looking to win the T20 world cup in the UAE this month, then have a fairly busy Aussie summer, with series v India and NZ, before their version of the Ashes in January.

Bat on.

We need to turn the gabba back into the gabbatoir, we have dropped a few games up there the last few years.

bit disappointing that we're only playing India this summer normally we have more cricket after the scg test

I can’t see us beating India in a 5 test series. Our batting looks more than a bit suspect. Whoever replaces Warner at the top is one decision the selectors have to get right.

We have the bowling attack, but so do they. And their batting looks stronger and more settled. First test in Perth where we have never lost at Optus Stadium is crucial.

There's no real tours anymore. Teams fly in, maybe 1 warm up game if they're lucky. Play the games quickly and GTFO.

TBF, there's only been 4 tests played there, but we are on a 100% strike rate.

India are 3/12 after 10 overs against NZ. Rahul, Kohli and one of the new young guns Khan are already out. Our series against them is going to come down to which of the two batting line ups manages to do something against the opposition bowling. Hopefully Smith back to 4 in the lineup gets him back to form.

They lost day 1 to rain, but there is still a good chance of a result after that start.

India are 34/6 in the first test against New Zealand

Whoever the new opener is, will be my concern. Konstas not experienced enough, that would be throwing him to the Wolves against Bumrah. Take your pick out of 4 or 5 openers. Smith at 4 is the way to go, but we don’t want him to come in at 2 for 20.

Time for Labushchampagne to stand up and show why he is in the team. I don't know what they do for the other opener spot, Bancroft has been going well over the last few seasons but has been out of form of late. Konstas is at least in form, and maybe in picking him you send a message to the experienced batters that they need to do the job, the lad is there to learn.

and just watched Pant in the replays get dropped on a stone cold sitter from the keeper. He was 7 at the time and is the current top scorer with 20. So this could have been 9 for 30 odd....
