We have been linked to heaps of people before and nothing from Hill. But with this he feels the need to put out a statement 1st thing in the morning??
Its probably because it's such a juicy rumour that will continue to linger unless they denied it quickly.

Probably the club leaking fake news so they can then release statements and try and stay relevant lol.

Well this is as excited as I've been for a long time re; any Bulldog related rumour. Hill coming out and denying it straight way is probably more about minimising any potential destablizing effect this will have on Pay & the group so early in the season & not wanting to compromise any deal being done. I reckon if we were having a chat to Bellamy, one of his requests would surely be that this doesn't get leaked to the media.

Or maybe that's just the optimist in me. At an absolute bare minimum, if this means the board know Pay isn't the answer next season that's still something to be happy about.

This most likely confirms that the story, as suspected, is being spun by an agent or someone somewhere with an interest in influencing a contract. It has nothing to do with the Dogs, as usual we are a useful unwitting patsy in someone's negotiations because we are perceived to a) be desperate for big name players or coach, b) to have a war chest.

Not to be a Debbie downer even if an approach made it would not be successful . It’s been well known if he was to leave Melbourne it would be to go back to qld to be with his family .

if he leaves Melbourne it will be to go to broncos or the mooted 2nd Brisbane team

If I was some sort of operator within NRL, an agent or club official for example, and I really hated the Bulldogs, enough to actually take action and do something, I could hardly think of a better scheme than getting the Bellamy story printed. Going to some dodgy journo at Daily Smellagraph would be the easy bit. Those idiots would swallow anything that they think will get them clicks.

The outcome of this nothing story is that fans, current and potential corporate partners, and maybe even the playing and coaching group themselves are increasingly unsettled. Some fans have worked themselves into such a froth that they are actually now even angrier at the club than before. Right when the club is hoping for the arrival of the best prop in the ESL to rally members, this nothing story, complete fiction, with no basis in reality, comes along and distracts from that. The team will most likely lose most of its remaining games this season, there probably isn't going to be any miracle signings in the near future. But the club will survive so long as enough fans, members, and corporate partners stay solid. If someone wanted to really threaten the Dogs very existence in the NRL, seeding fake stories that get people upset is probably a plausible strategy.

Hill has no option but to come out with a strong denial. We as fans do have the option not to swallow this kind of junk.

There's a certain element of the former board that still have a connection at the Leagues Club that like to spill their guts to the Telegraph and this is where a lot of these rumours come from.

Well that didn't last long... Bellamy was always a pipe dream but hopefully the club are looking at replacements. If they aren't and they plan on re-signing Pay, it would be a disaster.

The key thing to always remember... Never believe one word that's written in the Telegraph. They make shit up daily just to fabricate stories and generate content.

If there is white-anting going on, that is a serious problem.
