Some how people have actually convinced themselves that this is a good signing. Unfortunately this loser culture has infected the club and some of our fanbase and they too easily accept rubbish dished up by the club.

Could be worse this board could have signed a busted half on 1 million per season oh wait the previous board tried that.

No problem with the 1 year deal, if it works great, if not it's only 1 year. We can still be aggressive in the player market for 2021. The reality is there is not a lot of quality off contract.

Given the option of Foran for 3 years and Green for 1. It's Green every day of the week. 420 blaze it.

Id love to know how much we signed him for. If its more then 300k we should have stuck with foran.
Just a guess, but everyone else guesses on here lol, I'd say its around what we offered Foran. Looks to me like they wanted some experience around our younger halves. Foran turned it down so we went to Green and he said yes.

No doubt because this seems to be a polarizing signing someone will say they have info that he's on 700k LOL, because you know that's how the Kennel works.

In the context of things this could be our worst and certainly most depressing signing ever.

Why’s that you may ask?

We have been coughing up absolute shit for years now, Anderson’s have promised us success in 2021 (not even gonna go into their BS cop out for previous years) the old Bulldogs or a power club would’ve announced something like (and the way Hill n Co carry on)
Bellamy new coach
Can Smith
Papenhausin
Munster
Hughes and maybe a Haas and Bateman minimum.
This is very realistic because Melbourne have this and more (big Nelson, Bromwich, B Smith, Addo Carr etc)
That’s what a war chest should buy. Especially when we are the first club ever to be touted as having a war chest.
Instead we have a Centre who is not even playing origin anymore, the ‘best prop in the world’ and my favourite Blake Green and T Baz as coach who has a 29% win ratio.
Never before has a signing highlighted how out of depth our administration and coach truely are and more disappointing CBFC is no longer a successful nor powerful club. I’m afraid this is the proverbial nail in the coffin.

We needed an experienced spine player, we offered Foran 1 year he rejected, Maloney the next option - people saying he doesn’t return to Australia, and then last one left is green and we got in early.

he has a kicking game at least and can close out games something we have lacked this year, not the best option after the injury but it’s done

So if Foran leaves us at the end of this year whats the value in playing him for the remainder of this year?

Barrets challenge
Foran wants 2-3 yr - no deal
We would be left with no experienced half - big problem
there is no long term half on the market that he wants - fact

We therefore need a safe pair of hands for 1 yr,

Barrett went to a player he trusts - injury aside I see the logic.
Exactly. While I don’t necessarily agree with the signing, I can see why he would be signed for a year.

Also, some people forget this signing happened 3 weeks before injury.

Even without the ACL injury, why are we signing 34 year old average journeymen halves with our so called warchest? What's next? Darius Boyd at fullback and Mick Ennis at hooker?

The Roosters sign Sam Walker to be their 5th string half but we sign 34 year old Blake Green. Fucking idiots!

Good thing the club waited three years to clear cap space to solve our halves crisis by signing Blake Green of all players... What a coup!

That was worth all of the pain and suffering and moving on half the squad for..

Serious question, what other halves are available for next year?

If the squad sizes get reduced to 28 or 26 next season, having Green out for half the year while Lewis and Wakeham are our only halves would be an absolute disaster.
