Being a Catholic Bulldogs supporter and Good Friday

i am not religous, but it is the only day i never eat meat. Mum would kill me LMAO
Kills me seeing others eat pies, i think it is disrespectful.
There's a sushi shop at Accor these days. Family will tuck into that while I sneak out for a Canadian and a pie

Are you trying to say that watching the footy doesn't trigger you anxiety thingies?? :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:
Na that's just anger lol. My anxiety thingies are different. The church ones are also a little different. My nonna said it's because I'm carrying some curse from their village or something, they grew up with some freaky ass shit.

Yeah I don’t know mate, evidence would suggest you can get a little angsty around game time , but I know better than to argue with nonna :tearsofjoy:

I don’t think many people understand what’s required for the orthodox fast. It’s quite the sacrifice. I don’t do the full fast just Fridays but have family members that do.
Yeh, I find it really hard and don't do the proper fast as well. To be honest I really struggled this Lent to give up anything. Doing my best to abstain from meat this week leading up to Easter.

I think the Orthodox fast or the more traditional fast that some people still do is a massive sacrifice, not many can do or handle it.

I'm just being honest here, but I think the Orthodox fast where you can't eat anything that comes from animals(no meat, no chicken, no milk, no cheese, no eggs or anything cooked in animal fats) for 45-50 days where you are basically living off plant foods(salads etc) would be much much harder than fasting from Dawn to Dusk without food or drink and then feasting on anything you wanted all night. Just my opinion.

I’ve never heard of any Catholic mass that kicks off at 3pm on Good Friday…. It honestly sounds like this thread was started by a journo…

But, for what it’s worth, by the time your 4pm mass finishes, you’ll still be able to watch it live on tv.

Go Dogs!
A lot of Roman Catholic and Maronite Catholic services start at 3pm. Along with other times throughout the day. It's the busiest day in the Christian Calendar in terms of Church attendance.

Is nonna sicilian marly?

I am a member and go to most home games.

But I’ve never been to a Good Friday game and probably never will.

I’m a practicing Catholic and go to Good Friday mass every year at pm so it’s virtually impossible to ever go to a game which starts at pm.

Please tell me I’m not alone! It deadset pains me but my faith is extremely important to me (as are my beloved Doggies).

Note: I’m extremely tolerant and welcoming of all religions and of those who are not religious. Please keep this thread civil.

As a practicing Maronite, we were told by a Priest during a homily one year that Good Friday is NOT a day for one to enjoy themselves. So the NRL is one thing. You also shouldn't go to the Easter Show, Movies, Theme Parks etc... anything that could constitute fun, because it's meant to be a Holy Day and one that should be observed so. If you were going to funeral on a certain day you most likely wouldn't do any of those things either.

I might watch the game but I'll never go to a game on Good Friday.

Yeah we become vegan for 50 days.

Big sacrifice for me as God knows I love meat and animal products lol

Its not about whats harder my bro. Its the refection that’s generated from fasting. Increased prayer, penance and alms giving are just as important during Lent.

I love Holy Thrusday mass with the washing of the feet.

Also Midnight mass for Resurrection Sunday is a loved tradition too.

Ah yes the curse from the old country, it explains a lot now like the triggering numbering list lol
