They have said several times that they are monitoring his well being and that is commendable .

Even though it sounds harsh Adam now really needs to man up and face his responsibilities and take ownership of his predicament. People can help him to a degree but he needs to help himself too.....that is the first step towards making his life a better one.
I for one really hope that he can ....
Lewis hasn't had the same kind of concern expressed for his well being or have I missed that?

If he didn’t have “a chance of fighting it“ why pay him ~$100k, which will be on our Cap, so actually more valuable than $100k in cash (not on the Cap).

His salary was already factored into this year's cap. So they gave him him rest of this years salary as a gesture and to make him go quietly. Read between the lines... Elliott was begging to stay. If he wasn't sacked then why would he forfeit 500k next season when he'll struggle to get half of that elsewhere?

The “rest of his salary” would be whatever is owed on his 2021 contract until 31st October, very unlikely to be $100k, even $50k is a stretch.

Well yes that has gone quiet but I think in the overall scheme of things he was gone from the club anyway. Was a really strange thing with the speaker and all we sort of got was that is was a joke....The club did issue a breach notice asking him to please explain but don't know what happened with that...
The NRL has punished him for the incident and he may have trouble getting a new contract registered..that is the doing of the NRL not the club......
Some of the twitter responses on Weidlers feed are very interesting to say the least and just about shows how cock eyed the NRL is with punishments depending on who you are..#####

Out of contract Bulldogs half Lachlan Lewis to get whacked with big fine, uncertain future
By Ben Glover

Out-of-contract Bulldogs halfback Lachlan Lewis will be fined and told there is no guarantee he will have his next NRL contract registered when he is sanctioned for allegedly stealing club property and attempting to sell it on Ebay.

Lewis is the subject of an Integrity Unit investigation over the matter, with the NRL expected to hand down its findings today.

The 25-year-old nephew of rugby league Immortal Wally Lewis was not offered a new deal by the Bulldogs, with his current contract expiring at the end of this season.

He has played 43 games for the club over four seasons but was never able to secure his place in the team.

The bizarre Lewis saga coupled with Adam Elliott's toilet tryst with NRLW star has given an unsavoury ending to another forgettable season for Canterbury, with the wooden spoon for finishing last confirmed weeks ago.

While it is now a certainty that Lewis will not pull on the blue and white jersey next season and beyond, the Bulldogs are still yet to make a decision on Elliott, who is one of the club's best forwards and has two years left to run on his current deal.

Elliott was fined $10,000 by the NRL for his behaviour at the restaurant and was stood down by the Bulldogs for the rest of the season after the incident came to light. However, it's his history of alcohol related off-field indiscretions that has Elliott walking a tightrope to save his career.

According to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald, Elliott is prepared to sign off on a clause in his contract banning him from drinking alcohol in a bid to stop the board from sacking him.

Elliott had not touched alcohol in seven months before letting hair down two weekends ago for a night out on the Glitter Strip.

While the grim end to the season has crushed Bulldogs supporters, there is a sense of hope that the club will begin to rise again next season, with a number of high profile recruits, headlined by Matt Burton and Josh Addo-Carr, arriving to kick off a new dawn at Belmore.

The Bulldogs earlier this week sent out a statement with a list of players who will not earn new deals, drawing a line under a miserable period for the club since Des Hasler took them to grand finals in 2012 and 2014, only to be sacked in 2017.

After half a decade in the cellar, 2022 can't come soon enough.

NRL 2021:
Elliott's antics cost Bulldogs a million dollar sponsorship.
The collapse in negotiations of a multi-million dollar sponsorship deal was a leading factor in the Bulldogs severing ties with Adam Elliott.
The sponsorship blow and angst from fans and members has emerged as the trigger for the Canterbury board to reach a “mutual parting of ways” with the forward, who had two years remaining on his $1 million contract.
Canterbury, who are on a mission to rebuild both on and off the field after finishing last in 2021, had spent three months in negotiations with a leading Australian company and were edging towards securing the sponsorship deal in the days before Elliott’s toilet-tryst.
The company called an immediate stop to all dialogue when the forward’s drama thrust the club back into the dim view of the NRL.
Another company, an internationally established business, has also been in talks to sponsor Canterbury.
They pressed pause on all negotiations until Elliott’s future was resolved.
Canterbury management hope to recommence talks with the international company in coming days.
Fans and members had also contacted Canterbury management to vent their frustration at Elliott’s latest misdemeanour.

When does our deal with classics end?
Remember when we had the deal with xblades and our jerseys were trash and we played like it too.

Give the players and fans some jerseys and apparel to be proud of

Whatever the amount, it's significantly less than another 500k and still doesn't explain why he'd "walk away" from that money if he wasn't sacked.

Obviously he had good reason to take the cash and run.
What that reason is we will never know

Legal advice is almost always that we “think” you should win, but there is no guarantee that you will. There’s are lot of legal fees involved and the risk is he would have to pay them x 2 (ours and his) if he lost. Plus all that he could realistically sue for, same as Okonbor and CHN, was contract reinstatement, based on unfair termination of his contract. In our position I would have simply said “even if you win you will spend the rest of your contract on the sideline, you won’t get any game time, but you will have to turn up every day for training. That’s a career ender, so take the $100k and move on”. A smart move with a divided family, especially physically with his wife and child in the NT.

You think a player and his agent is going to blindly come to this club and not ask questions?

At the end of the day, each player signs an agreement with the club. Clearly Elliott broke that agreement which is why he's not at the club anymore. And, the club was kind enough to pay him off.

If anything, players will be looking at the club saying how well they've taken care of their players because they really didn't need to.
What about the media then? Surely they don't believe the "kiss" thing? They are going to keep digging until they find out what really happened & probably drop it on the eve of the 2022 season opening.

There’s two parties here, and a big chance, in fact I’d say probable, that Elliot himself didn’t want any details of the what and why released.

Get over yourself. You don’t have any right to know.
You don't think the media will keep digging?

What a load of rubbish, if he was a good player we would keep him, other potential players would know that and now feel more comfortable coming knowing adam isn't going to try and crack onto their wives, your avatar is Robbo if only adam played with the same heart as Robbo, Adam is a Kelpie cross dumb mutt, good ridence. Think of a better replacement how exciting that is, do you want to win a comp?? Keeping crap that won't happen.
So we are sacking him because we offered him a contract that exceeded his value? That's nice.

I think it was the problem of the bad press the club was getting and as the player is contracted to the said club anything that he gets up to which a negative spin is put on reflects badly on them and in the eyes of the sponsor/prospective sponsor on them as well.
The fact that it appears Adam had been in court before the Mad Monday incident where he was lucky not to get jail time or a criminal conviction recorded he ran out of chances to show that he was headed in the right direction. Even though having a few drinks or "a kiss" in the bathroom is not a crime it is sadly a reflection on his character that he could not sort himself out even after promising he would stay out of trouble.
What's the bet the media either know or will find out & drop it on our 22 season launch?

True, but back in Bullfrogs day none of these incidents wouldn’t have reached the light of day.

Different world we live in now.
Exactly. How many people on here know about Laurie Daley's exploits?
