I reckon you hit the nail on the head with this observation, or perhaps hit the chin with the shoulder. The positioning of the arm means the shoulder is promoted as effectively delivering 100% of the impact. No one expects the shoulder to not be involved, but the effect of having the rest of the arm is to distribute the point of impact. The fact that the force from the shoulder goes up and through the head makes it even worse.

What? Who said I was happy with it. It was illegal, showed zero tackle intention and ended up connecting with Dooreys head ( although I don’t think that was the intention.) He was binned and if the NRL are consistent he will also get a holiday.

If the hit had been Thommo on him or Dugan I wonder what the reaction would be..

My comment was that it was specatacular and reminded be of the game and how it was played 20 years ago. SBW was a specialist at the shoulder hit and we all use to love it.
