No one likes a told you so.. You get reported..than I’ll tell you I told you so… Hang on..

ps. You are correct..
TBH - think this game has shown that Vince would be a better opener for Australia than Smith.

I've no idea why he isn't in the mix.

Actually - completely forgot about this. When Smithy showed his credentials as opener - someone carried on with a lot of hooping.

Wonder if that was Bancroft who is the keeper. Lolz....

Seems the worst kept secret is out:

Smith to open
Green to 4.

Not sure what the point of selecting Renshaw was...
Don’t know how it was the worst kept secret. No one Really knew until it was announced.

Even Mark Waugh said he never had him in mind aa being picked as opener.

Only came into the conversation when Smith himself said he was open to a new challenge.

Just a little fun fact.

Hilton Cartwright averages 45+ in shield this season. Scored 130 to Greens 96 in the Qld/WA shield game.

Greens 22-24 average is around 24.

Best 6 bats?

Thunder management need to do what Bulldogs have done and bring in 10 new players for next season. They’re embarrassing!
Yeah - get rid of the useless leprechaun that opened the batting and is still there eating up balls. He's garbage.

Just a useful comparison. First class stats. Matches, runs, average, 100's, HS.

Bancroft. 146, 9449, 39.0, 25, 228*
Renshaw. 107, 6745, 38.7, 21, 200*
Head. 157, 10601, 40.4, 21, 223.

Not really much between them. Bancroft more hundreds than Renshaw but played more games. But Bancroft has more hundreds than Travis in less games.

As these averages are so close, if we're looking at our best 6 - then shouldn't Head be missing out? Just saying....

Carey should be first dropped if it went on form

If BBL is any guide.

Smith is an awesome opener lolz...
Went pretty well opening in last year’s BBL, to be fair.

And no, I’m not saying that makes him a test opener. But I’ll wait to see how he goes before I judge.

For who?

Carey hasn’t been too bad of late. Yes he was playing a lot better up until the Ashes but hadn’t been playing as well since but has shown clear signs of returning to something near his best.

J Inglis is NOT a Test Wicketkeeper or player for that matter. He was lucky IMO to be selected for the World Cup and had some good moments but overall he’s nowhere near what Carey has done in Tests and the ODI format. He’s a 20/20 player at best, but is fortunate enough to have been selected in a class team.

PS. Never a fan of players chewing gum when playing. A sure sign they think they’re better then they actually are. Maybe one exception in the late Dean Jones.
