So after this series we're popping over the India for less than a week to play 3 meaningless t20s...

Then it's 2 short t20 series v Windies and England before the t20 world cup. I will officially declare the 2022/23 season open then I suppose...

Didn't we just recently have a T20 world cup?

Agreed, needs to retire effective immediately.

Question - who replaces him at the top of the order?
Travis Head the bloke who keeps peeling of hundreds in the one day setup. It’s a no brainer

yeah let’s get rid of Smith …
You argue like a coward. You didn’t say anything when he scored only 1 and waited till he scored a century to say anything.

I’d still not have him in the one day team & let him concentrate on his test batting.

Smith still is a handy one day player. They need that stability. But I do agree he isnt good enough for our t20 team

there really isnt anyone else atm who can stay at the crease and rebuild an innings if there's a collapse in the one day team

Smith is so underrated at one day level. Some seem to have him pegged as a test specialist, but he averages 44 with 12 ODI tons. Those numbers are elite.

And yep, he is one of the best players in the world at rebuilding an innings.

Now Finch is gone, I think the next two players who should be scrutinised are Stoinis and Labuschagne. Stoinis is nowhere near consistent enough and Lab needs to start converting starts to scores.

Edit: underrated, not overrated

Cam Green is an absolute superstar. Asked to fill in at opener in his second T2o international. Just reels off a cruisy 61 off 30 and sets up a successful chase of 209. No worries....lol. Surely Stoinis' days in the team are numbered. Green can match him for strike power but can also knuckle down and rebuild an innings. Has to be in the first choice side sooner than later. Maybe even as a replacement for Finch at the top of the order. Crazy to think he isn't even in the WC squad.

This kid will be the best all format player in the world within a few years, I reckon.

Also, Matty Wade has become a phenomenal finisher at T20 level.
