Well like I said about 4 weeks ago, Gus wants him for 22 and 23 will be an option in our favour.

2023 is basically why the deal hasn't been closed yet.
You sure did bro I was just throwing up Kennel names in no order just from the thread. I know you have talked about this for quite a while now and I also rumored the possibilty about Pearce on the 4th of July.

We are all hurting and ranting one way or another about what’s wrong, but how do you fix it?

Sack the coach sack the board are the usual go too’s for many, but replace with who? The longer this drags on the harder everything will get. Recruitment of the best players and staff will get even more difficult so in my eyes we need to do something significant to try and change the direction we are heading.

Unless we start getting beat 66-0 every week the club won’t move on Barrett till at least mid next year so what can we do to at least stop the floggings and show improvement quickly to get us back on track.

Instead of attacking each other, offer up your alternative ideas. This is mine;
  • Mitchell Pearce. He is an organising experienced premiership winning halfback. Would be perfect for Burton and we could probably get him for 2 years for around $500k per year.
  • James Segeyaro. Would sort our 9 problem short term while we chase a gun like Cheese or Clarke or develop one
  • Bring in someone like Neil Henry, John Cartwright or even Michael Ennis as an assistant to help Barrett. The bloke needs help from either guys with head coach and assistant coach experience or footy brains like Ennis.
  • Tevita Pangai Jnr. He has some issues but would give us starch and line bend.
  • Willie Mason and Rene Matuai, to work with the forwards and the whole teams defence
  • Steve Hansen Fulltime one year contract to work closely with the team. Or let him go.
  • Give Laundy a challenge to sign someone like Cheese or Paps, whatever it takes.
And finally hire a Joey John’s or Jonathon Thurston to work exclusively with our young halves.

1. Averillo
2. Cotric
3. Naden
4. Allen/Schouup
5. JAC
6. Burton
7. Pearce
8. TPJ
9. Segeyaro
10.Thompson
11.Elliott
12 Doorey
13.Jackson
14. Hetherington
15. Doorey
16. Topine
17. Okunbor

What you got?

What do you read into Gus and the Media saying we've spent our cap for next year but also being somewhere in between "in talks" and "signed for 22/23" with Pearce?

Mate I was taking the piss. I wouldn't watch next year if Flanno got the jump on Burton.

I have to say a fit Pearce and Burton halves combo excites me. If we get the Cheese then we'd have a pretty decent attacking spine for once
Haha sorry mate. Haha. Yeah I agree with you. Pearce and Burton would be a very good combo.

The Tigers are not the only interested party though with Fox League’s James Hooper reporting on Triple Mon Sunday the Bulldogs are having “conversations” about Pearce.

“Canterbury have quietly been having conversations about possibly having a play for Mitchell Pearce next season,” he said.

“Obviously they’ve got Matt Burton, Josh Addo-Carr, Tevita Pangai Jr and Brent Naden coming.

“But there is still a view that they need an experienced, game-managing No.7 as the final piece of the puzzle. If they are to sack Adam Elliott, all of a sudden they’ve got half-a-million up their sleeve.”

The Bulldogs are "quietly" having conversation :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:.. is that code for @Scoooby @B-Train @chisdog @Bulldogs2194 @Mutt Dafty etc. etc. have been quietly discussing Pearce?? What is Hoopers alias on here..
It wasn't me but social media is where all reporters & "journalists" go to get stories these days. Why do the normal hard work when you can move between one screen with social media reports to get stories AND you can still have the other one on porn sites. What a job!

Gus knows the game and the management of the game.

To use one of my favourite quotes, appear strong when weak and weak when strong.

Going off my insiders, we have re-signed who we and to keep and the others have found clubs and some have to find clubs.

Now I'm guessing Gus is playing the media to our advantage. If clubs think we are weak then they lost us as a bargaining tool, reducing the amount of "overs" they have to pay which in turn reduces the size of the offers we have to make.

I hope I've explained it well enough bro.

Once again I don't make shit up, I pass on what I hear to my fellow dogs fans. I don't want no glory or internet points from people that I majority haven't met in real life. Like I say, Kennel fame doesn't pay the bills.

I feel sorry for Burton...he left Penrith for a shot in the halves and now he's going to be stuck behind Pearce and Flanno. Poor bastard
Battling for a reggies spot with Wakeham & the prince..:tearsofjoy:

He might leave Knights for 2023 onwards, but yeah, he’s not going anywhere next year. Knights have a senior halfback on a discounted deal at a time when good halfbacks are super hard to find. They’re stupid, but not that stupid.

I know nothing about Cook but surely we don't start with JMK again?
Unless something big happens during pre-season, something like the way Reece Walsh blew away the Warriors outfit his first day of training with them, I'm tipping JMK start with Cook on the bench for the first part of the season.

Only way i'd want him as said before is for 22.Year after he can get royally fooked...no use to us then for various reasons.
Hence why 2023 is in our option. BBO might come good and or we find a better, younger option than Pearce.
