Aha and there's the point. We dont know who is lying and who isnt, but the whole time you have insinuated hers is the correct story, its what you have based all your arguments around.
Im inclined to believe his story, to me it fits in with her actions alot better.
Since we are believing different sides of the story we are at a stalemate, so not much point debating this any further.
So if we have two conflicting stories and don't know who to believe what evidence do we look at?
1) We know that she consented to the first 2 players. Undisputed.
2) We know that up to 10 other players appeared unannounced after proceeding began. This included climbing through bathroom windows (An unlikely entry point if invited). Undisputed.
3) We know that a naked 19 year old confronted by up to 12 large footballers either in the process of sexual contact or masturbating is a dramatically different power and coersively intimidating and even threatening situation than simply 2 persons who you have already given consent to.
4) Overall consent is disputed and this was the nature of the complaint to the police. On one side we have a single 19 year old girl on the other we have a close knit sporting team including officials.
5) We know that the girl was extremely traumatised by the events. Undisputed by both sides and confirmed by the police at the time of the complaint, a later diagnosis of PTS and at least 3 clinically verified suicide attempts.
6) We know that the police have nothing further to investigate unless someone comes out and changes their story. Physical evidence of rape is virtually identical to the evidence of consensual sex if the act was not in itself physically violent.
7) We know that Matthew Johns apologised to the girl immediately after the incident. Undisputed.
I believe that point 7 is the key point for determining the probability of truth. His actions are far more consistent with the knowledge that something had just occurred which had gotten way out of hand.
