Same feeds as Fox (same commentary) and all Fox shows on Kayo too (Matty, 360 etc). You should be good mate. Feel free to donate your savings to me :-).
If you take payment in beer it’s done, round 1 at Bankwest

Wonder how that end would have played out if the Roosters didn't score of a blatant forward pass

Their whole platform is struggling and they're bleeding money.

They're struggling to compete with Netflix etc for $12 a month when they charge $100 a month for Foxtel. That's why they created Kayo. To try and stop the bleeding. But I think it's inevitable they go under with how much money they're losing and how cheap the competition is.

If it weren't for the NRL, AFL and HBO programming, they would have been dead already.
Next TV broadcast deal will be a worry for NRL. Might go back to FTA?

Let's hope so. Just cut Channel 9 out of the equation and stop giving them the rights for nothing like the last few deals.

7 and 10 were willing to do a partnership like they did with the AFL where they broadcast every game between them. But Greenberg didn't even make the three networks drive the price up.. He just cut a shitty deal with 9 as soon as it was offered. One where 9 have way too much power and influence..

Seeing as Greenberg is "negotiating" the next deal, I'm sure he'll give it to 9 before 7 and 10 can even properly negotiate once again.

I think Fox are clearing the decks with all other sports to keep NRL, AFL and cricket. If they lose any of them they are dead in the water.

Yep, its exactly why i left foxtel after nearly 20 years.

I told then flat out that i can get netflix, stan, disney + and Kayo for half of what I am paying them.

Although Kayo is pissing me off lately, its clunky and unreliable.

He won't. Given that's the exact reason Peter V'landys was brought in. They have also brought in a few others to ensure the money and exposure they get reflects the status of the game. V'Landys will play hardball. You already see him doing this with the gambling companies and state of origin betting.

Be a lot of cost cutting as well in NRL land, to ensure that all financial windfalls are put away in a rainy day fund type thing.

Let's hope that happens but I'll believe it when I see it. 9 have had the rights for so long that their coverage has become stale and outdated. I hope the rights are sold for top dollar this time as the last few TV rights deals, the NRL have sold themselves and their clubs short of hundreds of millions through poor negotiating.

I'm pretty sure David Smith negotiated the last tv deal. It was the last thing he did before leaving. He sold the entire rights to 9 network. Fox ended up making a deal with 9 for them to get the NRL.

We can say ‘leaving’ with a grain of salt.
Smith was pushed and the media deal was a big part of why.
I get what he was trying to achieve but he annoyed too many powerful people along the way. That and he was a banker and knew nothing about the sport.

Pushed or not was not really the point. Another post said Greenberg negotiated the current tv deal. I merely stated that it was actually Smith and not Greenberg. For the record I thought Smith was rubbish.

You're right, my apologies. It was 2015 when Smith was still in the role. I had a feeling he might have been and should have checked first...

I just read comments from Vlandys before the Nines in Perth completely dismissing Perth as an option for expansion saying that they're focusing on the eastern seaboard?? What a joke. If they add two teams but don't add Perth, it will be another huge opportunity missed to grow the game..

They are so negative in their vision for the code that it's frightening..

All good mate - wasn’t being critical of your post and you’re right - it was Smith and not Greenberg. The next one will be a big test for Todd.

All good. You're right the next deal is a hugely critical moment for Greenberg but more importantly for the game.

agreed, kayo is an awesome platform and i use it all the time but i cant understand why anybody would have foxtel anymore when most other streaming services are a fraction of the price and available on a number of platforms (phone, tablet, laptop). They will go under soon im sure

Watch the footy on your phone? Lol

fuck that

I pay for Foxtel and all I watch is the rugby league specifically only bulldogs games these days.

no nba
No afl
No golf
No cricket
No American football
No union
No soccer

just rugby league. It is a rip but I can’t live without Foxtel

Especially iq box I can record it and walk in 20 mins late turn my phone off and enjoy the game like i was watching it live.

You can also get Kayo for big screens using an app for newer TV’s as well as Apple TV, Chromecast etc.

You can also select ‘Watch Live’ or ‘From Start’ per your 20min late example.

HD, same coverage/commentary as Fox, provides all the RL programs on Fox (eg: NRL360) and half the price of Foxtel.

Don’t write it off so quickly, it’s great.
