Why not donate the money spent on this to the homeless in Sydney

Or families hit by hardship?

WTF would that do ?
500memberships X $200each = $100,000 max.
Wouldn't even put one homeless person in a house.

WTF are you on about? People FLEEING terrorism are terrorists?

Also the club does give plenty to other local groups/charities (Camp quality anyone?), trying to make some refugees feel welcome in the country after they have lost everything is just ANOTHER thing the club does to give to the community, not the only thing.

Your comment smacks of ignorance.
wake up you idiot, and try reading with your eyes and not your emotion

i said...and now the bulldogs will have ...terrorist...added to the list of what our fans are already called, show me where where did i say they are terrorists, we already get called enough crap now, and for sure we will now be called terrorists as well
and i also pointed out that this will no doubt cause a rift between members and the club, and as said in earlier posts members are saying the club has given away memberships to these people and they have never been given one

also saying that many australians are against having these regugees brought into the country is fact not made up
so tell me where my ignorance is you

Plus inbred racist Anglo ***** have been calling us terrorists for years.
thats true eddy, but why
the bulldogs club is very multicultural and has always been a club for who ever wanted to be part of it, all nationalities all makes and sizes its an open door for anyone who chooses to follow us

like someone said before let them choose if they want to follow the dogs, dont make them

Some of you *****, blow my mind !
What trouble are these people going to cause ?? None.
Making an assumption that 500 refugees are more likely to cause trouble than 500 regular supporters is highly insulting.
My mates joke because I'm a "rightie" and even I don't see a problem with this.
See it for what it is ; an opportunity to increase memberships, create some new fans and maybe help a family who's just "upped stumps" and moved across the world, because it wasn't safe to live where they did.

Ohh pallease ... My dad came here with nothing and worked to make a living , there were no hand outs. Just saying , a bit of perspective so you're not getting sucked in by the do gooders

Everything we do these days has to be for good publicity. We release stories to the media about what good deeds our players have done, we sell opposition teams jerseys leading up to the GF and now we try and assimilate people into sport. I wish the club would concentrate on what it's meant to which is to deliver premierships.

Agree with what others have said about handing out memberships - there are people who have supported our team for decades who earn a low wage who couldn't even dream about becoming members. Those people are deserving of being looked after by the club.

So did my family. They were farmers in Italy. My dad was born in the fields.
My grandfather came with the older boys of the family and my grandmother came later with the young ones and the girls. She didn't even know where he had been sent for work. Could've been a different state.
The family was stripped naked on the docks and sprayed with DDT.
They all worked hard for everything they have, my grandfather and two uncles have bravery medals for rescuing people in the Granville train disaster.
But Im not naive to think everyone who comes here has to tread my family's path.
If these families get a little joy out of a season of free footy membership, after years of hardship, who am I to begrudge that ?

For the life of me I'm sick of these P.R Stunts aimed at glorifying Raelene Castle. If they spent half the time they do on P.R stunts on the football department Bulldogs would be world champs.

And how would you select these people ?
Put an ad in the paper offering free memberships, then sift through the 500,000 applications ?

There are ways of doing it. In the same way the club recognises deserving members at home games or to visit those who are in need.

There are 12,000 refugees coming from Syria along with others from different parts of the world. Who's to say the 500 the club choose are more deserving than others refugees. The club will make a call about that so they could do it for less fortunate supporters of our club.
