Did Salmon video training with Critta arouse youAnd Salmon (I wish).
This isn’t a go at Patten, I loved him but you are correct, how often would have we lost the forwards battle in his era. Plenty of space and opposition fatigue to work with. We are pinning all of our hopes on Burton becoming five to ten times better than he is at his job in attack. No one in this team is explosively carving up week in week out in attack not even Critta.Luke Patten is a very good comparison actually.
Both were/are poor positionally. Patten probably better at taking bombs and 1 on 1 tackles. Tracey better at sweeping moves and passing. Both had about the same speed but Tracey returns the ball with more venom. Patten more durable.
They are the closest type of FB i can think of. But neither has that x-factor you get from a Pappy, Turbo, Walsh etc or are at the level of Tedesco, Edwards etc.
Our team lacks X-factor in the key positions and while the Tracey types can be serviceable, you really need a game breaker to compete with the best teams.
Remember, Patten was successful coz he played in a team with x-factors in halves, centres or other positions.
We dont look interested in bolstering our halves by the looks of it, and our hooker is locked in.
Our only semblance of x-factor lies with Kikau really....
I'm going to say one thing on Burton where his detractors will be entitled to have a field day. It's no secret Gus is chasing Ben Hunt to be the halfback effectively putting an end to Toby Sexton. How many halfbacks would Burton have been through? This is something that is a detraction for Burton that his halfbacks seem to cop the brunt. This isn’t a go at Patten, I loved him but you are correct, how often would have we lost the forwards battle in his era. 2037 with promise of becoming our new coach just to make Marley angryCan see it now. Salmon extends til 2027
Our new long term fullback probably hasn't even been born yet.Well, it AIN'T Papalii!![]()
Fucking don't say shit like that ffs!!!!!!Can see it now. Salmon extends til 2027

I'd love to get Cobbo. I reckon under the right hands hes star potential. Toned up and superfit his size and agility would be a nighmare for teams from the back. Especially with Critta in the backline. Or Cobbo leaping onto Burtons bombs. A weapon in attck and would add another dimension.Who is our long term fullback?
Connor Tracey will be 29 next year and has had an injury ravaged career although he's coming off a career best season and seems to have cemented himself as our first choice FB over Blake Taffe, Kiraz and Papalii.
The Storm are prepared to table a monster $3 million deal to keep star fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen out of the hands of their NRL rivals.
The star No.1 has been on the radar of NRL teams, including Parramatta, but the Storm are prepared to go all-out to retain their bona fide matchwinner.
For reference this is the list of off contract FB this year:
Clinton Gutherson, Albert Hopoate, William Kennedy, Daine Laurie, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Ryan Papenhuyzen, James Tedesco, Taine Tuaupiki, Reece Walsh, Blake Wilson...
and I'd probably throw in Xavier Savage and Selwyn Cobbo to that list as well (even though they're technically wingers).
So do we stick with Tracey or do we try to make a "marquee" signing like a rep player e.g Cobbo, Gutho, Walsh, Tedesco or Papi?
Plenty of elite talent off contract and we all know how important these spine decisions are. The dominant teams are always the ones with the best players in key positions.

sua faalongo?I'd be looking at Daine Laurie, Pappy, Savage and Sua Faalongo
At first I hated the idea of signing Cobbo but if you look at his stats he’s a real tackle buster and a metre eater. Two things you want from a good FB.I'd love to get Cobbo. Mate I thought Cobbo was the next big thing when he started but he's gone backward IMO. Massive talent and potential but isn't a team player. Maybe he'll grow out of the selfishness but I wouldn't want him right now. I don't think he's ready for Ciro after all those soft Broncos role models.I'd love to get Cobbo.
