You can't just say his role is purely off field

Of course you can. He is the CEO. He answers to the board. His duties consist of, and are limited to, whatever the board says they are.

Our CEO position is a little different to other clubs' - he doesn't really control the football department.

Woke Warburton's job is to engage with Woke Corporates, to get them to part with the Woke Dollars, so Gus can insulate the football department (as much as possible) against DEI/ESG Woke Bullshit - absolutely essential if we are ever (one day, hopefully) going to get this club turned around.
