The Wests Tigers have manoeuvred a major roster coup with five-eighth Josh Reynolds set to depart for the English Super League to join Hull FC.

Reynolds, 31, is expected to ink a three-year deal to move to the north of England in the next 24 hours.

The move means the Tigers have opened up around $500,000 in spending money in terms of their salary cap as they move into 2021.

Reynolds had one year to go on his $3 million four-year deal with the Tigers - a contract which came under immense scrutiny given how many games the five-eighth played for the club.

The one-time Canterbury Bankstown favourite son only managed 22 NRL appearances in three seasons with Wests Tigers and was widely criticised for failing to deliver value for money.

In fairness to Reynolds, it wasn’t his fault previous Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary tabled the monster four-year contract offer.

Reynolds will link with Wests Tigers 2005 grand final winning fullback Brett Hodgson who has just taken over as head coach at Hull FC.

Hodgson had also made a massive play to try and convince Tigers champion Benji Marshall to move to the north of England but the Kiwi five-eighth wants to remain in Sydney.

With Reynolds set to depart for the UK club Tigers coach Michael Maguire is expected to shift Adam Doueihi from fullback to five-eighth for next year.

The Tigers are also continuing to try and negotiate an early exit for Panthers young gun Daine Laurie who is signed to join the Concord-based club in 2022.

Laurie is expected to get first crack at playing fullback at Wests Tigers provided the Panthers agree to release him.

If only the Dogs could move on some contracted players - Lewis and Britt would be suited to the esl, cant see Harding and Roumanos playing first grade, unless they have significantly improved. Taking up top 30 spots as well as salary cap.

Just be thankful Pay didn’t get his way or this would have been our headache. Good luck to grub he’s managed to make very good money out of his career when you consider his level of natural talent.

If JR regains his fitness, he will be a revelation in the UK. Probably the next Man of Steel.
