That’s an interesting take. Most people I’ve heard have questioned the stupidity of having almost half of your cap on a few players, particularly when their NSW cup team are pretty pathetic indicating an already unacceptable level of depth

It always amuses me that people have this un- shakable belief that Flange senior is some kind of Master coach, hes' a fucking drug cheat. Lets see how he goes at the drags without peptides.
Yeah i agree - Flanno had PEDs and a salary cap rort to compliment his premiership. Still think he's better than that flop Seibold though lol

Please.
manly’s cap is shot to shit.
They’re gonna wind up with Schuster as the highest payed forward in the game and a blown turbo costing them +$1m. Add to that, a proven failure on a long term contract in the halves?
we’re gonna pick up olokau’atu as a result of their mismanagement.

He'll sign and then renege at the last moment after you've offloaded players to accommodate him.
There's a pattern :grinning:

Dunno mate. He’s 35 next year. Don’t get me wrong still a quality player obviously and miles in front of anything we have now but similar to Hunt, are short term but expensive band-aids going to help us longer term? I think of Cronk and the Chooks. Yes they had immediate success while he was there but since then they’ve fallen away and especially in the halves. The short term pain is just that - painful - but none of our expensive blow-ins have really worked out and to me development remains the key for the longer term.
DCE is part of that development... Your talking about the experience of one of the best halves in the comp, a rep captain and premiership winner. I would personally love DCE to bring that knowledge over for a couple of years help mould the next gen.

Nek minit he signs for uncle Benny and we lose again.

Yeah that’s been suggested. I’m not arguing that point I just don’t think it’s realistic for the Dogs. DCE is contracted on the insular peninsula until 2025. If he’s able to go that long are we really going to sign him for 2026 when he’s 37? Doubt it. The only way it’s even remotely possible is if he gets an early release and if he’s unwanted aka when Sticky or Noddy came to us all those years ago. I reckon the reality though is DCE does a Jacko and will pull up stumps at Crookvale, possibly a year before his deal expires now that they’ve got Brooks and extended Schuster.

Stop being realistic and let us dream Dinko!

Early release due to salary cap pressure, Gus has already signed him, will be here in November. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

BBO got unluckily injured last year.. he's very underrated and killed it last week first week back in 12 months basically.. I have always thought he could be the answer, still young and a mature, strong body.. perfect 7 at NRL level with Burto.. then when Karl O/or Khalid show they are ready move Burto to the centres with a roaming commission,,

Sounds promising, let’s see how that plays out.

Sure, like I said, both Ricky and Noddy late in their careers were good for us. No sign that’s going to happen with DCE though. Maybe Gus can pull a rabbit out out a hat but from here I don’t see it happening.

I think Des has front loaded their back end and we all know how that will turn out!

Sorry, why are we jealous of Manly?

Luke Brooks is average as and would cost 600k plus.

Schuster is talented but has never put it all together, is often injured and who knows how he'll go in the forwards. He's not worth 700k or whatever they gave him..

Talau isn't a FG player. Paulo is very average..

So again, why are we trying to copy what they did? They just cap fucked themselves for players that won't make them contenders and will now probably have to release good young players to make it work.
You talking sense again B-Train ?

We should start a break away dogs forum and screen members for their true age. I think there’s too many teenagers or desperate unemployed adults trying to be relevant.

Gee this place has filled up with shit posters over the last 18 months. No wonder why Spoonman left.

Schuster... what's all hype about this guy? , he is a good to decent player at best , but not worth 600k a year surely.

I agree with your comment here mate, except for the part about the last 18 months ..

Some of the long term posters on here are the worst of the group, they’re on here nearly 24/7 which relates back to a lot of what you said, and all they generally contribute is negativity and look to argue troll and put others on here, the team, and players down.

Longevity on here doesn’t automatically equate to good threads comments and content ..
