We had Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard between 2007 and 2012, outside of that we've had the Liberals in government since 1997. They've dug us into this hole by not diversifying our trading partners.

Stop giving them a free pass.

And then by sheer incompetence, idiocy and because of his wooning after Donald j Trump, scummo goes and attacks China ON HIS OWN. The EU made clear they weren't going to say shit at the time. Scummo with delusions of grandeur went out ON HIS OWN and showed the world hes wooning over Donald j Trump.

Kevin Rudd even offered his services to this government, because he actually does have a relationship with China, to smooth things over and scummo ignored it.

This trouble we're having is purely self inflicted by complete stupid foreign policy/diplomacy actions.

Also by the way, by no means am I defending China, but you may want to ask South American countries if they see a difference between China and the US as far as foreign trade, interference is concerned. The CIA had a hand in past south American dictators, e.g pinochet.

Realise that foreign policy/diplomacy is a special field and has to be handled in a unique, careful way.
Well said. In simple terms Scummo has hit a point where he'll risk our economy to score in a popularity contest. Worst case scenario is that he will piss China off enough to draw hostility.

Considering that I live in something of a country area, I'm pretty glad that we have a damn good Chinese restaurant in town. Haven't found one I like as much in Sydney when I go there to visit family.

Likewise mate.
The laugh is on us though.
The Chinese don’t eat Lemon Chicken :-).

I found out what they really fancy when I was served Snakes Blood in Beijing. Tastes like chicken...

I’d still prefer a leader that stands up for us.
China are scum and I wish everyone stood up to their crap. If we can’t wipe them off the map then totally block them off
Don't get me wrong. They deserve to be stood up to. But from a diplomatic point of view, it's not very smart to bite the hand that feeds you.

No doubt about it.
He should have known better and even chosen his words better.

I cant quote exactly what he said, im sure you can find online if you searched.

But if he implyed clearly that his message was to support China in its investigation, china wouldnt not have got so pissed.

But you have to ask, why has China reacted so strongly to it?

Thats an important discussion to have.
Bullying. Pure and simple. ScoMo pissed them off and they're now showing Australia that they can screw us over a lot more than we can screw them over.

I know it’s extremely difficult and expensive, particularly for us but if all countries work together it’s possible. Maybe covid can be a fresh start considering how broke we are now anyway. Let China, Russia and North Korea trade between themselves and see how they go without our iron ore etc
Honestly it may turn out to be a good thing. China is currently the world leader in renewable technology development. They'll invest more in this and it'll drop the price of coal. That'll force us to do what we should have started doing long ago. Prepare to transmission to a new energy trade resource.

Haven't tried snakes blood. But the meat is pretty tasty. Somewhere between fish and chicken. It was good old fashioned red belly black snake though. None of this foreign shit would suffice. I don't think I've tried lemon chicken. Butter chicken yes. Garlic chicken is the meal I'd miss the most.

Standing up to them like that in the international stage was sheer stupidity.

China is the major economic powerhouse in Asia, what message were we sending to the rest of Asia by "standing up" to them? How likely are China to pressure other Asian countries to stop their trade with us?

The simpleton method of "standing up" to them doesn't work, there's a bigger picture than the small narrow minded view some are taking (which is why they vote LNP, they have the same narrow sighted simpleton view)

A really interesting read answering questions relating to our relationship with China such as ;
Why aren't we enforcing our own trade restrictions?

Can we just stop trading iron ore?

etc etc etc....

He is all marketing spin, theres fuck all substance to him. Just before NSW second wave the dumb fuck stood up and said NSW were doing so much better than the rest of Australia (dumb **** was playing partisan politics) and that backfired massively on his face.

I cant believe this idiot has a 60% approval rating, are people really THAT short sighted?

Bu the way hes stacked his bench with pentecostal religious extremists. Prosperity gospel is the order of the day for Australia, if you're well off its because you believe in God, if you're poor its your own fault for not believing in God enough

I think in a global dispute, Russia isn't as well equipped with a huge Navy. Wouldn't think they'd be worried about defending their borders. But taking the fight overseas is a huge issue without that. And I'm not sure if they've got widespread bases in international regions to bolster long range capabilities. As such I think they'd struggle to dominate any global conflict. China has supposedly built a bigger fleet now than the US.

I'll freely admit that I'm not a fan of the Lib/Nat party regardless of who's been in charge since I started following politics a bit more. Econo actually scares me a bit. He's faced a huge amount of criticism since taking over and seems willing to take absolutely huge risks of he thinks it'll improve his popularity.
You may be right my bro but Russia is quiet about MOST of their weaponry and Putin is a sleeping lion.

Plus don't discount many other countries joining Russia against winnie the pooh and the commie pin dicks.
