The unprofessional manner in which the Bulldogs continue to pay for players playing against them during a critical rebuild phase is slowing down and not speeding up the battling clubs ambitions to return to finals football.

The club would have us members and fans believe that it is a necessary element of fast forwarding the undoing of the previous administrations salary cap errors.
However I believe, to a point it is slowing down the process, especially when we receive little to zero recompense for the players we discard.
A lot of players just like other people, not surprisingly value security in their contracts as some of them actually have a family to consider.
Bulldogs continue to increasingly devalue the surety of player contracts by continuously shopping players to other clubs.

Eastwood was an example of a player that had committed and invested his family to the club and the area. And rightfully so he refused to budge. He could have secured a 2 year contract with a new club with half being paid by the Bulldogs, but did not want to relocate his family when his wife and kids were settled and did not want to leave.
It does the Dogs alot of harm when players on the market are not convinced that we will even honor the contract length. Consider that we are signing up sons and daughters and wives aswell as the player in some cases.

How much extra do you think players will ask from the Bulldogs because they dont have confidence that they can build a life and a playing career at the club?
But thats not all. Not only have the club sullied our reputation as a club to trust and have confidence in, we also fail to miserably when it comes to getting anything in return for an early released player. 200 seats to the next 'home' game we relocate at Suncorp anyone? *rolls eyes*

Im not asking for a like for like replacement or even a promising junior, given the clubs stupidity in being transparent to everyone that we are in desperate situation, just some form of recompense. 200 seats at Suncorp anyone?

The list of early releases with us paying part wage grows again, and even bottom of the league clubs refuse to parlay when we are releasing contracted rep players to them.
The most professional clubs refuse to release a player early without compensation and rightfully so.

Newcastle refused to release Meaney and Cogger to us early and then agitated for Klemmers early release when they werent even aloud to table a contract.

Talk about getting bent over... we seemingly in fact willingly and needlessly bend over without asking for lube. Or even a bit of spit

How many players have we actually released early and not have any form of compensation and in most cases paid a large portion of their contract?

We are acting like the paupers of the league and getting stepped on as such. When will we start growing a backbone again

Rather get rid of them then keep them. That whole list is rubbish.

Sorry but this is shit. All clubs pay freight for other players. Look at Penrith, paying for :

Mansour
Hetherington
Whare

They go ok.

And Meaney and Cogger ?? Please . They did us a favour

The fuck up with Woods was not getting the other Tigers, then taking him on while paying for Graham to play for the dragons before doing it all again. We just needed to have kept Tapau and we would have then been okay even when losing Klemmer.

Our business acumen has been poor for a very long time.. I'm really struggling to see an end in sight. It's been one shit decision after the next and it's still happening.. 800k for DWZ is on par with the 1 million dollar Foran deal....

The purchases of Flanagan, Allen, Waddell and to a lesser extent Hetherington and Cotric, seem to be money once again poorly spent.. Barrett talks about no bandaid solutions, but these players seem like exactly that and yet haven't even come close to stoping the bleeding

To think our team spends the same salary cap amount as Penrith, Melbourne South's, Parramatta and the Roosters makes me laugh..

There is still a lot of our team on massive overs this year and next.. when will this nightmare end..

Yh, because we're paying. If we don't pay them they walk away and we're stuck with them. We're in a weak position in negotiations because of our garbage roster management.
Part of my point is the club projects their weakness and desperation.

All the talk of we have no money in the cap or we have a warchest just stfu keep your cards close and nut out contracts and dealings behind closed doors. Its utterly embarrassing that we get fucked just as hard off the field as we do on it

Agree the whole issue is roster management. Off loading is a means but if you continue trying to negotiate from a weak position then you may as well bend over and part the cheeks. It should have only been used sparingly as recovery and clean up has taken as long or longer than the original contracts.

It doesn't matter, player managers all know what each club has to spend. Go look at the Broncos and see why manages the bulk of their roster and you will see why they're fucked. The club just needs to be better and the NRL needs to scrap certain rules around the cap and take away control from the player managers.

But it does matter when it comes to releasing players early or player swaps. It matters to players perception of the clubs aswell

Yeah they are the exception with the best junior nursery in the league
The Newcastle situation is just an example of the contempt in which we are held.
