A judge just struck down Trump's attempt to throw out 221,000 votes in Wisconsin — including votes cast by mail because of the pandemic | Business Insider

  • President Donald Trump lost yet another election lawsuit Friday, this time in Wisconsin.
  • The lawsuit sought to invalidate 221,000 votes in Milwaukee and Dane counties, arguing that election laws weren’t properly followed in their recounts.
  • Reserve Judge Stephen Simanek said they properly followed the laws, which permitted more people than usual to vote by mail because of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The case had drawn some attention because Trump’s top lawyer in the case said he and his wife voted using an illegal method.

Supreme Court rejects Texas lawsuit in Donald Trump's bid to undo US election loss - ABC News

The US Supreme Court has brought an abrupt end to a long-shot lawsuit filed by Texas and backed by President Donald Trump seeking to throw out voting results in four states, dealing him a crushing setback in his quest to undo his election loss to president-elect Joe Biden.

The justices in a brief order rejected the bid by Texas to file the extraordinary challenge targeting Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin directly with the Supreme Court, as is allowed in some instances of litigation between states under a legal doctrine called "original jurisdiction".

The order said Texas did not have legal standing to bring the claim.

"Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognisable interest in the manner in which another state conducts its elections," the court said in the unsigned order.

The Supreme Court's 6-3 conservative majority includes three justices appointed by Mr Trump and none of them commented in the unsigned order.

Two of the court's conservatives, Justice Samuel Alito and Justice Clarence Thomas, said they would have allowed Texas to sue but would not have blocked the four states from finalising their election results.

The case was filed on Tuesday by the Republican Attorney-General of Texas, a Trump ally.

The Republican President on Wednesday filed a motion to intervene and become a plaintiff.

The four states targeted in the filing on Thursday asked the justices to reject the lawsuit, which they said had no factual or legal grounds.

There was no immediate response from the White House.

A Biden spokesman said it was "no surprise" the court rejected "baseless attempts" to deny Mr Trump lost the election.

Mr Biden won all four states in question.

Mr Trump had won them in the 2016 election.

"Our nation's highest court saw through this seditious abuse of our electoral process," Pennsylvania Attorney-General Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, said on Twitter.

Mr Trump's campaign and his allies have already lost in numerous lawsuits in state and federal courts challenging the election results.

Mr Trump has falsely claimed he won the election and has made baseless allegations of widespread voting fraud and a system "rigged" against him.

State election officials have said they found no evidence of such fraud.

Lawyers for Mr Trump and his allies have failed to present evidence in court of the type of fraud he has alleged.

Ha, get this: just spoke to a mate who lives in DC.
The Trumptards marched in DC on Saturday.

That nutter Nick Fuentes addressed the Trumptards, saying: ‘We are going to destroy the GOP’ (for its failure to keep Trump in power)

Trumptards chant: ‘Destroy the GOP! Destroy the GOP!’

They’re now turning on each other.
The circus rolls on.

They've created this mess themselves.

Their talking points have always been racism, sexism, homophobia, and an irrational fear of taxes and public service. They've always traditionally understood there was a line they couldn't cross in publicly saying these things but trump let the cat out of the bag and now they can't get the cat back in.

They've laid the groundwork for decades and now its come home to roost. Fuck them. They deserve every ounce of this destruction of their political party.

What’s worse is the minority have ruined it for the majority. I know Americans who consider themselves Republicans because they’re fiscally conservative but most of them are ashamed at what Trump and the trail he has created has done to their country. So I don’t tar everyone with the same brush, as usual any form of extremism has proven to be a bad thing.

I don't agree with this mate, simply because racism, homophobia, religious discrimination, sexism, etc has always been part of the conservative playbook, just not as open as what trump has made it, so I don't think a minority of extremists have brought down the GOP, especially when there's been 74 million votes for Trump, which is clearly a larger number than his hardcore base

If their economic policies were oh so successful and such a glorious strategy, and they had proved over and over and over again that they were brilliant economic managers (same applies to Australia), then there would be no need for their major talking points to consist of that evil bigotry above.

Lets go back to 2016, put in a hypothetical situation and lets say Ted Cruze won the GOP primaries instead of Trump (and I'd consider Ted Cruze to be an average politician with average GOP beliefs). Ted Cruze is a racist, religious extremist, homophobic, sexist piece of shit. He never would have said those things loud enough nor cross a line (the way trump has) as he is a seasoned politician. But does that mean those things don't exist as part of GOP strategy (just because he won't be as outlandish as Trump)? Surely instead of using divisive language, he'd concentrate on economic management/prosperity right? fuck no. Because Obama (and Bill Clinton before him) had Republicans beaten 1000x over when it came to economic management.

Furthermore, one has to look into the divisive language/policies that Nixon (Nixon's plea to racist southern Democrats to switch allegiance to the Republicans) and Reagan used, again this is not something Trump created within the GOP base, it has always existed and been used, however as seasoned politicians they didn't step over a certain line to not make it too obvious (otherwise it becomes an attacking point for Democrats).

For FOX news to say the outlandish shit that it does, media laws had to be changed. Those media laws weren't changed under trump, nor a decade ago, nor two decades ago. We're heading back to the days of Reagan and Nixon for those media laws to change, so that FOX could become the lying piece of shit network it is.

For me, conservatives need to take a long hard look at themselves, Trump did not start this, he just blew the top off something that was always there.

The GOP embraced a complete narcissist child, now let them deal with the consequences. If he rips that party apart it will be a thing of beauty to watch.

'No Wisdom, No Courage!': Trump lashes out at the Supreme Court after it rejected a Texas bid to overturn the election results | Business Insider

  • “The Supreme Court really let us down,” he said in a tweet. “No Wisdom, No Courage!”
  • The lawsuit, which was brought by Texas and joined by other Republican-led states, sought to have the election results overturned in four states. The court rejected it due to lack of standing.

Proud Boys chairman boasted a 'last minute invite' to the White House as protesters flock to Washington DC — but he was there on a public Christmas tour | Business Insider
  • On Saturday morning, Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio posted photos taken at the White House on the social media platform Parler, saying that he accepted a “last minute invite to an undisclosed location.”
  • The posts raised questions of whether the leader of the male-only, right-leaning organisation had a personal meeting with President Donald Trump.
  • The White House responded, saying that Tarrio was not invited and was simply part of a public Christmas tour.

I’m sure not all republican voters are bigots, but the Elliott hater is right, the party has stood on a platform of thinly veiled bigotry for a long time and thst is what has helped to create this trump monster.... along with fucking Democ(rats) like the Clintons, Pelosi, Obama et all who have disenfranchised large sections of their base by doing nothing substantial to support those below the poverty line. Both parties are completely broken and respkndibjj OK e for the absolute clusterfuck that is US politics in the 2-at century. They are all responsible.

But you are right that the minority has ruined it, because the elites of both parties govern for themselves and not the public.
