Sydney Trains not running its electrics because the drivers couldn't log onto Network Control when they should have the old hand held two ways, sure safety is an issue but leaving people stranded is also an issue, trains ran alright thirty years ago.
Funny story and might explain a bit. Husband of a woman I worked with was the GM of a certain part of State Rail. Thus is just after the poms were bought in to run the joint. Anyways - he's near retirement - they made it clear they'd be cutting costs and he didn't want to wear that so took a half mill redundancy.

Six months later they re-employed him as a consultant. He agreed only on the basis he was given same resources as b4. Exactly the same work he did before on basically twice the pay. According to him, management have shaved it so much its not a question of when a train turns up - its now if.

Avoided mentioning which bit of rail he works in but can tell you its a bit that fails a lot. By my understanding its a madhouse.

Stoopid how Sydney trains sacked RailCorp management for corporate excecs to de culture the industry.
Still the same operations controllers trains, tracks and delays, if worse.

I miss having the train to myself during lockdowns everyone just annoys me now. Also I feel I’ve earned a sense of ownership over the train carriage. These people that had a two year holiday during covids at home whilst I caught the train everyday to work by choice I admit but also got told by the same people it’s dangerous to catch the train every day whilst they sat on their arse getting paid to watch Netflix now all reckon they can just slob around again acting like pigs on the train.

My only solace is I know how much they miss those Netflix COVID holidays and hate getting a 5:45am train to work. Ha ha ha

Yea go on strike, everyone else is getting 5% straight off the bat, fuck the communist microscope x10000 dont need the head fuck.
Half the public never appreciated the job, night work gives you radiation sickness, sorry all.

December and still stuffing about, 5% is all you get these days while the country is in a trillion dollars debt.
No way the Cops should of got 9%.
Now is not the time to bleed the country, 15% over three years in generous, the rest of the state would kill for that.

Parramatta station. Is there a more confusing train station in Sydney? Central isn't confusing, but Parra-Freaking-Matta is.

Only good thing about it is that it's close to plenty of good eateries.

Non aircon S sets should be all scrapped by now, none went the private sector, they would look good on a property.

I caught the train everyday from Macathur to Central for 4 years.
The train is so grim and you really see the worst of people

Mrs. M, I hate to break it to you but when it comes to train ettiquette... THERE IS NO SUCH THING... >:(

My suggestion is to carry around a cattle prod, electric tazer, or even a pointy wooden stick to give people "friendly" reminders when they are being inconsiderate...

I hate trains...
Not a ridiculous idea.. I saw two men come to Blows many years back.. one guy was leaning his newspaper on the other one.. standing over him whilst he was sitting.. the guy sitting just grabs the newspapers, scrunches it up and throws it down on floor..

There was some push and shove and it turned into both men saying they would buy the other one with how much they earn.. then they said they would sort it out on the train station platform.. they both got off and I dont know who won from there

I knew David Hill, who was CEO of State Rail many years ago. At one stage, he was also brought back to fix issues with late running and cancelled services.

He told me that the biggest issue was the Campbelltown line - and the main cause was the points at Glenfield.

Hill is the type who doesn't just read the reports, he gets the engineers and goes with them to the site to see for himself.

The Glenfield points were affected by the clay base which moved every time it rained and dried out, causing them to get stuck.
Hill instructed the engineers to fix it - "I don't care what it costs!". The engineers said, "We don't work for you, David. The government sold off the various parts of State Rail to new owners - and we don't have the budget. Sorry."

Hill went back to the minister and told him it was a waste of f...ing time to have brought him back to fix something that he has no control over.

In his first term, the CEO was Number One and his word was law - but not any longer. Different organisations look after the rollingstock, the tracks, the stations, the signalling, and they all answer to different masters - all to save the government some money.

And now, we have a Chinese consortium operating the Metros for profit (guaranteed by taxpayers).

There is no holistic approach anymore.
