slim pickings it seems lol
To me signing Folau is like signing Tony Williams; nice to have but not necessary.

Barba
Perret
Lafai
Morris
Inu

To me that's potent enough

which one is it? potent or slim pickings or BootS' balls?

Haha you misunderstood.

BootS left bait, but caught nothing. Slim pickings.

Is it just me, or is Lafai looking dead average these days (since injury).

For someone who seemed to look so impressive, he's actually disappointed in my opinion.

With Mitch Brown coming good, and Jon Sila playing like a beast in NYC, Lafai's spot is certainly on shaky ground I reckon.

He isn't a right side centre. He will be dropped back to reserve grade once Inu returns from suspension.

He will play better when he replaces Morris on the left side when Morris is playing SOO

I don't understand Lafai at all. I keep thinking back to how confident and natural he looked when hitting first grade early in 2011. The try he scored at SFS against the Roosters that year was a thing of beauty - tremendous footwork.
He looks a handy squad player, but his (limited) 2012 output was less impressive than 2011's. 2013's looks less impressive again. Even the few NSW Cup games I've got to over the past few years, I'm gradually less and less sure of his status as a first grader.

Maybe believed all the hype and backed off on his playing ability a bit?

Yeah I remember that try.. was a jaw dropper..

and we have a specialist sprint coach onboard now, so if anything that footwork and speed should be even better.

Instead we are getting a bit of a Tony Williams like performance from him. Sure he carts the ball out of our own half, but any centre should be able to do that.

I just don't know where the spark/magic in his game has gone :(

Nah man ffs dont you guys write this guy off like you did Goodwin - he has it IMO, just needs to stay injury free, he's only just back in first grade - lets give the guy the confidence he deserves, he didnt put a foot wrong before with Moore...

I think he needs a bit more time but time is running out for him.

Can't argue with you Scorpio. If Des bit the bullet and has Lafai at left centre and Morris at right centre (where he brained the Toads in SoO) the Dogs would have much more potent centre/wing combinations on both sides. Lafai made acouple of breaks today and showed plenty of pace. IMO its annoying that he has to do it tough as right centre.

Lafai looked good today when putting on that light footed left step. Thing is putting on a left foot step on the right side of the field is pretty ineffective.

Would've loved to see this backline, however I think Browne has now made that left wing spot his own now:

1. B. Barba
2. K. Inu (Left)
3. J. Morris (Right)
4. T. Lafai (Left)
5. S. Perrett (Right)

Left or right centre, you can't make that much of an excuse for a playing average. He shouldn't have such a big difference in his game from one side to the other.

He hasn't been the same since he came back from injury imho.

Tim Lafai

This guy is too good for reserve grade. Whenever he has filled in, even in previous years, he's always exceeded expectations and played really well. I thought he played really well tonight and set up some good tries. When Inu is back I think Lafai should stay in the centres and Inu can play on the wing instead of Brown (who has also been playing well, but probably doesnt bring as much as Lafai does to the side).

Agreed, had an excellent game.. However that reinforces the ability of our team. Morris and Inu are beyond his level- period.

He was superb. Keep in mind, though, just how bad the Tigers left edge was tonight. Junior Tia Kalifi or Jonathan Wright might have looked like Rep players against that shambles.

Brown is the only one that can drop off for him, and it isn't even because Brown has been bad, he's been very solid and done everything asked of him, it's just that Inu has been consistently great for us for the past year, while Lafai is just too good to be left in NSW Cup.

Has consistently impressed each time he has come into the side. Must find space for him
