You can have that opinion it is your right. My
Opinion is Mortimer would not be ready for the modern game and may never will be
To just mention a few …

Luke Keary who plays at 179cm and 85kg, and is rated as one of the best halfbacks in the game today … he can make it in the “modern game” …

Sam Walker who plays at 183cm and 78kg and mentioned as one of the best up and coming half’s in the game …. he can make it in the “modern game” …

Johnathon Thurston who played at 179cm and 89kg and was told he was to small by experts in the game …. not only can he make it in the modern game but he can now be spoken about as a future immortal ..

But Steve Mortimer who played at 173cm and 78kg and is rated as a Rugby League and bulldogs legend …. he wouldn’t make it in the “modern game” …

How does that work ?

If your rules are only players who can be dropped into the game tomorrow …… aside from Burton, JAC, and TPJ, none of the other players you mention on your list would make it because they haven’t played for years, they’d be out of touch with the speed of the game, plus nowhere near fit enough … given the same preparation that players are given today, all those players on your list would make it, plus Steve Mortimer would be one of, if not the best halfback in the world ..

As would players like

Sterling
Kenny
Lewis
Johns
And hundreds of others …

If they all had the same opportunities to train as players do today, they’d kill it, because not only did they have all the skills, they also had heart and were smart ..

You are wrong in your assessment ..

Les Johns or the General at fullback.

Barba was a ‘formula’ player who ran off an aweseome pack. Fast is all.

Johns & the General could make things happen - in the case of Johns, he created magic when there was absolutely nothing on. Every game he was spectacular.

And both these players were Bulldogs club men.

aah see now this is more like it and this discussion is getting sharper and more pointed and actual points raised rather than ‘your Rulz is wrong’
Hence why it is a thinking exercise.
Although these very small players, Steve is much smaller than even them.
I still have my doubts but maybe it is possible.
Can he throw a torpedo cut out ball?

Nasheed I'm very surprised Kerrod Holland wasn't named fullback and captain.

Here is a thought provoking one, for the off season and that is who is the best bulldogs team of all time you would choose to represent you if your life depended on it.

Here are the rules.
1. Must have played for the doggs
2. You can choose them as they were at the peak of their bulldogg power.
3. This side must be selected as they are/were to play the game today. So don’t get clever and try to pick some 1960s player u saw as a kid unless u think they can play the modern game as it is today.
4. You can f around and find out with positions. Like what I do with Burton below.
