Arsenal have signed Mikel Arteta and let Nicklas Bendtner join Sunderland on loan.

Yep, we have signed Yossi Benayoun on loan, Mikel Arteta, Park Chu Young and Per Mertesacker in the last few days.

That defeat at OT has worked well for us in respect to getting our asses into gear. Meanwhile Liverpool lose Raul Meireles who is a quality player in my opinion.

This deadline day was so exciting! Also Jack Wilshere tweets:

Best news of the day! Brilliant signing! Welcome to Arteta! Great day all round for #AFC this is why #ILoveAFC. Come on you gooners!!!!

Arteta joins Arsenal on a four-year deal

Arsenal has confirmed that they have agreed to sign Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta from Everton for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old arrives at Emirates Stadium on a four-year deal with a wealth of Barclays Premier League experience, having been with the Merseyside outfit since 2005. After starting his career as a trainee with FC Barcelona, Arteta was loaned to Paris Saint-Germain before making his name in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers, where he was a member of the domestic treble winning side of 2002-3.

A year long spell in Spain with Real Sociedad followed before he teamed up with David Moyes’ side, initially on loan, in 2004-5. The Spaniard went on to score 28 goals in 174 Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

Arteta has represented Spain at Under-21 level, but has not played for the senior national team.

The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes.

Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mikel every success at the Club.

Some quality signings there.

Woulda thought you had 1 or 2 more tbh. Arteta is a great signing though.

Good deadline day. Mertesacker, Santos, Benayoun and Arteta. Still think we might need 1 or 2 players but this group should get us close to the top come January. Current players seem very exited. About the new faces coming in aswell.

Jack Wilshere seems just as excited as I am haha

Honestly, this deadline day was so exciting to follow. The Arteta deal was on then off then on then off then on but we pushed it through. Some real quality has been brought in, that's for sure.

This strengthens us and each player brought in we needed them as those positions were weak, we have experience in midfield and a tall imposing figure at the back, hopefully we turn our form around and in Jan make a couple of major signings.

Arteta is a fantastic signing especially. He will link all your raw young players together.

We actually got **** done this time around. We got the creative midfielder, we got the defender, we got the left back, we got the back up striker and we got a quality player in Benayoun who will help with the depth in the team.

They are all experienced players too, which is very important.

Solid signings but prob missing a major signing or two. Won't really threaten the top teams however will do enough to stay in CL contention until at least January.

Totally agree. We missed out on most of our first choice signings but managed to salvage the transfer window with some decent signings. Should keep us at the top till January where we'll have a better indication of what we still need.

Btw our next 6 games should bring us at least 16 points with only Tottenham being the team we'll possibly drop points against so expecting a big couple of months.

Might be best not to expect too much. Confidence is a major thing. Sure you've signed a few players but confidence would still be a tad low. What you guys need is a next up win to lift the mood. If you do lose that game then the recent signing will all but be erased.

Swansea (H)
Blackburn (A)
Bolton (H)
Tottenham (A)
Sunderland (H)
Stoke (H)

Then Chelsea (A)

Sure confidence is down but we should expect to win most, if not all, of the next 6 games.

With these signings, most of which are good or solid players, are you Arsenal fans happy still with the direction of the club?

I mean, I know you had very little time after Fabregas and Nasri left to get some big names and most of the bigger names were gone but still, you lost Fabregas and Nasri and got back Arteta (a good but not dominant player like you need) and Yossi who is another flair player as well as Matersacker who is a good defender but did you really change your identity or solve the issues of having a strong character signing or dominant defensive midfielder signing?
