Barba was a thousand times the player that Avo is bro. He was the best player in the comp at his best. Avo scores the odd good try but wasn’t able to lockdown a position in a struggling team. Being in a struggling team didn’t help but I’m not sure what his best position is.

You gotta feel for Averillo, the board was a mess, the team was a mess, coaches coming and going, I remember Barrett had him at halfback, left centre, dropped back to reggies, then to right centre all within 4 weeks .. poor bugger was always moved all over the place ..

Most will say he was a 1, I believe he was always a 6 … if he’d have been identified as a 6, brought through the grades as a 6 and received specialised training and left in that position, he’d of been a great 6 for us ..

One thing I hope this club has addressed, stop trying to manufacture players into positions … identify their best position early and then train them and see them specialise and stay in that position.

Lots of opinions on Avo and I’m not sure who is right and who is wrong, but I’m very disappointed he’s gone. One of our most consistent over a very ordinary period for the club.

Defensively Averillo struggles he’s a talented individual but has a lot in his arsenal which needs work. Loosing a player with blistering pace who also came through our system is never ideal though it’s hard to deny his far from the complete package. Tipping him to have a good year Dolphins backs get a fair amount of service.

Averillo is a Gun, problem is we never got to see his full potential, people complain about his defence but that can be fixed once he is kept in one position.
