Our problem is with Foran - not Foran himself. We only have the one attacking half; and the other clubs have worked out, that if you contain Foran, the Dogs have nothing to offer. Not Foran's fault if he finds himself isolated by the defence, while the team stands around wondering what to do next.Agree with a lot of what you say Mr D.
We are getting dominated in every tackle in both attack and defence. We do not appear to be a physically strong as other sides. Our forwards just aren't dominating to give our halves anything to work with. I think Thompson will improve us in this area, I was impressed with his motor and aggro tonight.
Meaney needs to put on 5-10kg, he gets dominated in tackles but has been improving every week. I agree he should be fullback.
Katoa was horrible and his performance justified Pay's decision not to play him so far this season. He probably deserves another chance to prove himself but our attack improved once JMK came on. And that's saying something.
Pay appears to be trying to give players time in first grade to improve (such as Wakeham) but they just haven't been stepping up to the mark. Then you have players like DWZ making basic errors week after week at crucial times.
I've also been disappointed in Foran, he hasn't been taking control like a million dollar half should.
We have a lot of good juniors coming through, we just need some old hard heads to help bring them along.
Pay is a forward, and is coaching us to win through the forwards, which is why our backs see so so little ball when Foran is contained. Problem there is that we lack the mongrel players in the forwards, with the edge and ability to take the game to the next level. All plodders and unable to think beyond taking the next step.
Pay is calling on the board to stand by him. The board must make a decision, one way or the other, otherwise we should all return our memberships, en masse, and say "No more until you come out from under your rock and do your bloody job".
