Papalii to Fb
Skelton on wing
Xerri centre
Sexton (last resort as no one else)

And we probably win that game. Great defensive effort by the boys. The opposition are finally getting it that we aren't easy beats... long way to go but proud of the boys.

That 1st half was some of the best footy we've played in years and the game still ended 25-6. We're still so far away it's not funny and it's obvious we've made mistakes selection wise. I don't see how we can be happy, even if there's improvement (different levels, still not good enough), when we're still a bottom 3 team. It's just not good enough.
We just don’t have the enforcers up front. Cronulla had that number 17 and 19 off the bench and they killed us when they came on

That was a massive step forwards, scoreline doesn't reflect how far we've come

We'll upset a few teams

Playing away from home against a massive pack, boys can hold their heads up
I think we forget we lost a middle in the first 15secs which didn’t Help… but in reality, big improvement from last year… we just don’t have the size or potency to match top 6 teams

Forwards are not good enough. Bottom line. They get dominated which is why the backs can't get quality ball. Kikau is a wide out backrower and needs the props to be smashing up the field to create space for him. We need some marquee props. Curran, Preston... those blokes are good. But theyre not gonna dominate teams like Brisbane and manly. Then you bring on guys like kurtis morrin off the bench. He's a lovely guy, but he couldn't knock the froth off a cappuccino. The guy is smaller than most sg ball players. No impact. No size. No intimidation. Where's the dogs of war, willie mason, o'meley, sbw, price, asotasi, Ryan. Then we had pritchard, kasiano and Graham. That's the template. We keep buying fringe powder puff forwards

These are the comments from the sharks fans, if you ***** don't think we've advanced, you have fucking rocks in your head

View attachment 104152
So - just to check - we've advanced because Sharks fan reckon we tried really really hard but had no idea what the fck we are doing half the time.

How about this then. Round 2 last year we towelled up the Storm at AAMI so at that stage - won a game. How about after 2 games last season (Eagles and Storm), we'd scored 6 tries.

And we have better cattle this year supposedly.

Anyone who reckons we haven't advanced has rocks in their head?

This is a pisstake right? Its not even a very good one. Give yourself an uppercut.

Totally agree with Ciro’s points, re: Kiks best game in a dogs jersey and Burton’s best for a long time. The combination with Critta should improve the more they all play together. He’s also spot on about no half can be expected to do much with only 40% possession like last week. Love that he actually stuck up for the boys “nah no niggle just standing up for themselves”. Also happy he mentioned the Kiks penalty and non penalty for hitting Taaffe in the air, and the Kisk no try and their bullshit knock on try.
I also liked Hynes post match interview, where he admitted that the effort from the Dogs was great, that they were still finding their way, and would come good.

Wait. So you're saying the 1st half was some of the best footy we've played in years but ...

I honestly give up. Really.

I get it's not nice losing by 19 points.

But surely you can see the bigger picture here?
That’s the key issue mate some can’t see the bigger picture and never will

Fringe forwards are all that are on the market. The big units are locked up in long term contracts, and no side is going to let them go to another club.

We just have to identify the promising young ones, and bring them up through our ranks - that is what we are doing.

Despite the fact that we are in our usual position - last on the table with the worst for and against, I still see something in this team that leads me to think we will come good.

We have our usual start to the season where we seem to come up against top eight sides that are fresh and ready for another big year. Not for us, the Tigers in round one, or some other team where we could get our plays working.

It's always the biggest well drilled sides at the start of every season. They knock us around, and leave the side depleted and disordered.

The NRL tell us that the draw is random, yet we always get the same tough draw every year, while the top sides hone their skills against bottom eight teams.

Does anyone know if the referees and match officials are tested for drugs and alcohol on match day?
What is there tolerance for alcohol.
If they are not tested what guarantees does the NRL have that these officials are not off their chops on match day?

Lol Melbourne where missing half of their key playing roster and that was a full strength sharks outfit with one of the strongest packs in the comp drawing comparisons is a piss take right? Go give yourself an uppercut or have a cone or whatever it is you need to do to make you less of a sad ****. FMD even Hynes was surprised by how much we had improved in his post match interview. I f you can’t see an improvement from 23 to this side you aren’t looking for improvement you are looking for an opportunity to have a cry.

Overall I think we take the positives from this game and move on asap. If the team dwell on getting dudded we won't come out firing at Belmore.

This is where Ciraldo will earn his money, he needs to get this team in the right mindset and prep to bounce back with a lot of energy at home.

They will take it as motivation and move forward, with The presser CC backed them and put the refs on show which is good for a change.

Now the club needs to do the same and back the players and coach and be out spoken.

Why does Hughes not get the mins he should in this team?
Yeah I rate Hughes too. As to your Question I don’t know but it seems they are taking things slow with him, it could be a confidence thing but t could be fitness but there will no doubt be a reason there all ways is.

I thought this. But all reports he killed preseason and I just think he’s the one player who can match or over take what king gets us. No harm in taking things slow I guess

1 try dudded by ref in way
1 try with foot just touching line

They then get a try allowed where the bloke drops it and they deem it a kick.

We were a lot closer than the score suggested.

Not to mention so many other dud calls :

Kikau high tackle
Non call on Kiraz escort

Half? You mean Munster and Olam. Now Olam might eat half the teams food and Munster drinks half the teams piss but otherwise you dreaming.

Full strength Sharks? Guess Hunt and Hamlin don't make the team then? U dreaming.

Now I don't watch the sharks much but their forum is full of their fans saying how much their attack is clunky and they played crap. They'd know better than u I reckon. U dreaming.

Oh yeah - u gunna take Hynes post game interview as gospel. What does everyone do in a post game interview, praise the opp and your own team. What hynes really wanted to say was thank fck they have the shittest halves in the comp.

As everyone is saying (except you apparently), Hutchison is shite and Burton is ringing Matty Johns to find out how to play as a half. After 2 years in the job. And from what I saw this week and last week and all of last season, its all on point.

Our 'improved' team is coming last. And you want to justify it. Awesome.

Happy pills are bad 4 you bro. Gotta face reality at some point.

Everyone obsessing over the performance of an individual player is missing the fact that our size and go forward is the biggest issue. We've got no grunt and we're gonna be on the back foot in most games until that changes. We'll compete well in a lot of games but eventually run out of juice and and have the opposition run over us just like tonight.
True yet reality is that's what we've got to work with at present. Small forwards. No grunt. Run out of juice in the back end of games.
Coach must devise tactics and pick better combos in halves and backline to at least try and counter this lack of go forward.

Leaving the team as is will not change the likelihood of opposition running over the top of us. We need to score early to have any chance and then rely on defence to hold a lead.

We can only do that with a more attacking backline and the better attacking players in key spine positions.

Rock and a hard place but Taafe and Hutch in the spine we aren't going anywhere.

Ciro has had the 2 settler games now to sort out our shortfalls with the new roster. Now it's time to finesse positions to best effect.
