It’s the ultimate test for our club - What to do with a gun player who crossed the line.

I fully back Gus and the directors to make the right call for the long term benefit of the club.

Not sure why most cannot see what this is. This is JAC (or his team) putting pressure on the Dogs publicly to not nix or flick him.

Which after what he's done, its just putting piss mayo on the shit sandwich. Lol...

I think he will stay actually for once I actually know that rothfield the drunk does talk to power brokers.
GUS will make an example out of him he gets 4 weeks suspension fine and GUS know JAC feels misrepresented. He fucked up but when you compare it to articles like Trindall that’s a nothing I know team first always.
In my opinion only people may disagree but I think he sticks out his contract. He used drugs got caught one thing in his whole career then bloke was in tears he lost 2 ancestors lost 5 kilos in the matter of 2 weeks I would be shattered but wouldn’t use a illicit drug.

COCAINE i was a addict for 10 years and now ever since I got married had kids I put my self away to get better it’s such a disgusting feeling and a toxic substance people say ice is bad cocaine is just as worse as all of them it’s the devils drug more more more and the more you use the more you need it’s really sad that this drugs are on our streets it’s ruined my brothers life he is in jail and know many other boys who are just not right.

There is always help out there for everyone my suggestion anyone on here who does use a illicit drug weekly daily whatever stop cause you get one life and yes it will hurt but 9 years later my life has turned around massively I don’t drink snort gamble pokies or even end up at stilettos spending all the money and living week by week.
I say this cause of my experience I used it as an escape from reality.

i was in denial. Lied did all that.

Nothing is better than waking up to a beautiful day with beautiful people around you especially your family.

Regardless of whatever happens to Josh.

I just thought I may share my story as it could help others sometimes words can be stronger than actions.
Well said brother and sorry about your brother, there so sick obsessed people on here that wouldn’t last 2 minutes in Josh’s world but they quick to throw him to the wolves because oh, we haven’t see a final in 8 years, wait another year then mother fuckers wait 9 years, it’s a 5 year plan anyway

Gus doesn’t have to be ruthless, he can be merciful
GUS THE MERCIFUL

If whoever revealed his name to the media had shut their mouth none of this would even be a discussion. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? What it is/was , was an invasion of privacy and reality of it all is if you or I had been pulled over and tested and blew a positive result no one would care. We don’t have to come clean to our employer if we pay the fine and take the penalty as there will be no criminal conviction , no criminal record. It would be PRIVATE. This is not, because he is a big name and someone blabbed. How we perceive it is up to the individual , but how will his team mates see it? Deception, betrayal? Does it have the potential to create unrest and division? This is what the club has to decide and l don’t envy them. We have to trust they get it right. Me I don’t like liars but it is very difficult to fully understand exactly what has happened as we don’t have the whole story and we are not privy to every single detail.

Taking that on the eve of a semi ( & royally fucking us) which our club hasn't played in for 8 years & lying about it over & over isn't a good advertisement for the club retaining you. Add to that we gotta carry you for 4 rounds so I am happy to see you out the door.

There is no precedent for clubs terminating player contracts for one-off recreational drug offences. Name one time it has happened in the game. Just one.

If the club tried to go down that route, don't you think there'd be some serious questions to answer to the RLPA? And potentially Fox's lawyers? I think they'd have a field day, tbh.
Whether the precedent is there or not, it doesn't matter when it comes to employment contracts. Legally the club just has to prove one of three things:

1. Did it impact his duties?
2. Does his influence outside of work affect the business?
3. Did it affect the reputation of the company/institution?

I would argue JAC ticks every box, let alone just one. You need to remember he also accepted the charge.

In a civilian job you don’t have to go to your boss and tell them you got pulled over and tested positive, it’s private and will remain that way because there is no media scrutiny.
Not if you’re driving a company car.

Let me guess...... the guy making his Frango burger, didnt wear gloves, and had handled cocaine earlier in the day....

JAC stopped for a delicious Classic Burger meal with chilli and mayo and extra sauce for the chips and there were traces if cocaine left by the 15 year old worker....

Am i right, am i right?

Could happen to anyone....

Has the management privately given Josh the assurance that he will be at the club next season or has he jumped the gun with this statement ?

I seriously doubt the courts or players association would see it the same way. And I doubt the kennel would have the same attitude if we were talking about a player they considered key to our future fortunes and not someone they wanted to get rid of to clear cap space.

This is the feel good thread I was waiting for! Now the redemption story is complete...

Might be hate from others on here.
Not from me. I dont hate him it boils down he has already bought the game and our club into disrepute
and by keeping him after giving him a four week holiday and a paltry $15,000 fine is sending the wrong message.
A prospective top shelf player who lives by a healthy disciplined lifestyle would probably buck on coming here.
How many more of our players will, by their own stupidness, bring shame upon our club and treated this leniently.
I wouldnt blame Wilson if he had the shits.
Most NRL players do coke so i doubt it would impact on prospective players
