Care to elaborate mate? Sounds like a real odd thing to say. Knew we would sign someone, dunno who?
Straight after the foran signing, I posted in the foran thread, I said we were after one more marquee signing (even though it seemed we'd pushed the limit of the cap) but my sources couldn't find out who it was. All I knew was that it was a back and a contracted player meaning there were no guarantees of a signing

This isn't a done deal by any means not until it's officially announced

It's great he's scoring tries but he gets dominated in tackles and makes no metres. He's not overly quick either.
Sounds like your talking about Holland. Only difference is, Walker can break the line, has great speed over 20-30m, is elusive, has a good footy IQ, can pass and kick...

But, still prefer Gordon at fullback if we're looking for one to replace Hoppa!!

First re-sign Elliot and Hoppa.
Then release Kas and Eastwood which is happening apparently. Few others to release alog with them, I would not keep Lichaa or Holland although reports linking a new deal which is depressing.
Then sign Jai Arrow or Alex Glenn from Broncs and Dean Britt from storm. Pretty sure hes Darren Britts son. Also Paul Carter and Mick Gordan at the right money. Not a great deal of outside backs on open market unless Rona comes back.

If we re-sign Lichaa Des will seriously need to be committed into a mental ward

So you want a slightly quicker version of perrett as our fullback? Apart from the ability to kick goals he probably offers less than what hoppa does

Fuck this.

The club should table an offer for Nathan Peats.
He's looking for $600k
Give him $600k and deal done before Titans know if Hayne exercises his $1.2 million option.

If Hoppa resigns play him fullback.
If not try Mybe at 1 and we have Bmoz & Abbey as backups at 1.

Lichaa is on $300k so just have find $300k extra for Peats.

Also his dad was a bulldog!!!

Currently Peats is bumming around for a team nobody notices.

But if he kills it at Origin (and hopefully he does), his price will be going up.

Edit: I just realised Peats is 26 and has played over 100 FG games. He's more experienced than I thought!

Yeh he's gone from
Bunnies, eels, tits. I'd snap him
Up. Rate him as a tough no nonsense hookerZ fairly quick too

True. After 3 Clubs by 26 one has to be careful of the dreaded "journeyman" tag.

But Peats, like all the great rakes, appears to be getting better with age.

We have a couple reserve graders off-contract if you're looking for recruits. It's probably all you could afford anyway.

So, whats the Dogs plan with the salary cap? I've heard they're over it by quite a bit for next year. How do you plan to offload your crap players? I reckon you might have to do a Parra and release a couple good players to get under the cap next year.

Hoppa is not a specialist fullback, last I checked, Gordon was one. I'd take Gordon over Hoppa. He has more acceleration in my opinion, is a better support player and turns 4 into 6 more often than not. That's my view anyway.

It's a short term investment for hopefully good returns. Hoppa is not our solution at the back. But, he does what he needs to do for us without being spectacular.

completely agree! Peats would be an astute signing!! Unfortunately, we wasted that extra 300k on Holland.

Recruiting Peats and/or Walker would make way too much sense for Hasbeen.

I feel sorry for Woolford who will probably never get a chance. I bet Lichaa or Garvey will be out starting hooker going into next season which would be diabolical.

Peats would be perfect but I can't see it happening. Nor Walker. They're not props so Des won't be interested.
