That seems to be snd predominant view of a vocal minority of armchair experts like yourself. Certainly not the view of most fans, expert analysts, his teammate or coach.

Spare me the condescension. You have NFI.
How do we know Ciro and his teammates aren’t filthy on him for not touching the ball at all on the attack? They could be into him every training session

3. Curran
2. King
1. Burton

Some people love to shit on Burton, but he was below his best today and still managed to set up our first try and kick the winning point. His influence on this team is frequently underestimated, but the reality is he is a match winner and the biggest X factor in our team. He did have a bit of an off day with the boot today and as a result, we really lost the yardage battle in that second half. Showed just how valuable his kicking game is for us. He still has a lot of improvement in him, sure. He doesn’t assert himself enough at times. But that doesn’t mean he’s not essential to this team.

Thought Kiraz was really good too. Kikau had some huge moments, and Reed was great apart from that complete brain fade where he took his eyes off the play.

Hard game to watch today, but a win’s a win.
Agree we don’t win any of these games without Burton’s boot. He makes up for what we don’t have in the engine room.

3 - Max King = 141 run metres, 55 tackles made & 0 tackles missed.
2 - Josh Curran = 153 run metres & 37 tackles made.
1 - Jacob Kiraz = 214 run metres.
Agree, no other options should be considered.

I’ve only criticised one part of his game (well two) he is obviously kicking at an elite level and he has great support play. It’s inexcusable for your 5/8 to go three consecutive sets on the opponents line and only touching it once. He is basically meant to be the most threatening player and yet he stands around. It’s not like he is screaming the house down and Reed is going the other way. He stands way back in the line and lets them go short to Kiks constantly. It’s lazy. It’s quiet and it’s the exact opposite of what an attacking ball running 5/8th should be. The Greatest sin of a playmaker is not getting involved which is why I am so hard on him. But alas I “Hate”
Him
I didn’t say you hate him. And sorry if I’ve said that in the past. But in some ways Ciro seems to be a conservative coach when it comes to attack. I think he has obviously told Burto to simplify his game and focus on two key aspects of his game. Hopefully he will expand on them as he goes.

I don’t think he is lazy. Who was the only player trying to force DWZ into touch when he scored his first try?

I’m not sure of Ciro’s thought processes, but it seems he has given Burto a clear directive. He seems happy with what Burton is doing at the moment.

There was one set in the second half, Mann went around someone about 30m out and suddenly we were looking 2 up on the left. He looks left to draw and pass and where's Burto? About 15m behind with 3 players outside him. So Mann just takes the tackle.

Dude is, was, and will only ever be a hole runner with a big boot. Reckon we'll have Dogs coaches in 2028 saying, work in progress, we're getting there.

I don’t… but it’s not the vibe I’m getting from Ciro. He was praising Burton for his maturity and team first attitude after the roosters game.

it’s well known Burto struggles with leadership , being vocal and controlling the team so I wouldn’t take too much stock in what Ciro says publicly , he can’t tell the world his star half is hiding in the backline. We’ve all seen Burto at his electric best when he’s at full speed, in control of the backline, shredding defences. It’s just frustrating to see him so handcuffed

Firstly, Mitch Barnett was immense today, big kudos for turning himself into one of the best middles in the game.

In terms of our guys;

3. Max King - I can't remember him making any mistakes in a game where we made plenty. He ran all day and fought hard for every metre in attack and defence. I must admit, I thought he was a long way clear as our best today.
2. Josh Curran - what he does for our team on a weekly basis is incredible, I hope his body holds up until the end of the year. Great to see him bounce back so well after the Roosters game.
1. Reed Mahoney - made an extremely poor error but he also made some huge plays - the perfect field goal block without coming anywhere near the kicker's legs and a couple of try savers. And, 70 tackles is monumental in anyone's books.

3 - Matt Burton. Was the difference today
2 - Xerri. Scored a try and saved another.
1 - Haywood. Played his best game in the 13.

Honourable mentions to Curran, Mann and Morrin.
How good was Xerri’s tackle?? Pretty sure it was his miss that sent them downfield but to keep chasing and execute a perfect try saver was pretty impressive, I thought he was great today.

He did it against Titans and Tigers. I could have pushed a wheelchair through those holes but alas
All I'm gunna add is google up Gutz Burton his old man. So much makes sense at that point.

Max King Isn't he just the fkn best? Week in week out putting in shift after shift. 55 Tackles 0 Miss.
Played 69 minutes today too, 141m run on top of 56 tackles with none missed. What a machine. Always bends the line and looks to offload but has really good judgement about whether to risk it. Love him.

Exactly. Without a big boot like Burton’s we lose the yardage battle almost every week.
With a better forward pack making yardage his kicking game is less influential and a Sherwin /Sexton short kicking game becomes influential
