Actually Southy that was a most sort after powerful and prestigious position in the reign of Henry the 8th.. The title was Groom of the Stool .. the ‘lucky’ person would administer King Henry’s enemas and wipe his ample sized bottom.. As a result of such an intimate interaction, the King actually felt comfortable enough (apart from a poke in the bum) to divulge his business and secrets.As such, everyone was keen for the job!
