OFFICIAL | POST-GAME Pre Season Challenge #2 Vs Brisbane

@CrittaMagic69 relax mate. We get your frustration re small plodder type forwards. We also wanna see our bigger forwards play and dominate. But its gonna take time for them to get into the team. Players that played well last year and proved their worth have got first crack after what I assume was also a good preseason from then.

It's only a trial and first few rounds. Let the competition sort itself out and we will adjust and adapt with it. Ciraldo proved he adapts with the right players and makes the necessary changes. If the "plodders" keep plodding and cant keep up then he'll adjust. We didn't fluke finals last year. It was built on systems and plans. Have some faith.

It’s even funnier looking at his posts with that avatar…

Salmon must hlgive amazing gobbies for Ciraldos. Captains the first trial and picked again. Surprised he wasn't named to start on the edge instead of Preston. My bench would've been Hayward, Morrin, Curran and Zyon.

Crichton has been dropped to reggies obviously

I reckon the starting 13 will play about 60mins each , leaving the bench about 20mins each

Nsw cup forwards will play long minutes too

Even if the bench in round 1 is boring and predictable and it's Hayward, Morrin, Curran, Salmon, I'm still confident they'll get the job done and we'll start off the season well.

I'm more concerned about Kiraz being out. Throughout the season Hayes, Todd, Sitili and DSF will all get chances and play an important role off the bench. Once they do, our bench will be more dynamic. Until then, these guys will play a role and we'll be fine.

All those players listed and being bitched apart, should be better than last year anyway. Another off season to learn the systems etc, coming into a good age group too. Im not that concerned at all, theyll do us proud and ill be backing them 100%

Has anyone seen a teamlist for the reserve grade trial ?

CC is the brainchild behind one of the best defensive systems of all time ..... Penrith and our stunning rise last season attest to that. As long as he is coaching our game will be built on the back of dominant D.

As we all know our D is about line speed, hustle/scramble and requires extreme fitness. We need to keep this in mind when discussing our team selections.

The bigger flashier types will need to prove they can handle the defensive requirements before they are selected. Once/ IF they can of course their added attacking skills will be utilised, .... The team that finishes the season can be substantially different to the one that starts.

Many of our best defensive efforts last season were on the back of two or even three smaller bodies being on at the same time ..... the line speed was able to completely stifle the bigger opposition before they gained momentum, often holding them to under 30-meter sets and leaving them looking decidedly tired and somewhat rattled. The big outside backs provided the yards and then Burton's huge kicking boot made up for any shortcoming in said yards. The forwards than rip in defensively and the cycle repeats until the superior fitness/mobility of our smaller bodies gains the ascendency after three or four sets ..... We have seen Penrith successfully do this for years. ONLY errors or ill-discipline can stop it.

We are not going to change our fundamental approach to footy.

I watched all The Bulldogs matches on the weekend from Mathews to NRL and the blueprint was obvious.

As for this week the bigger bodies are playing reserves to get more minutes under their belts. No amount of training can compensate for actual game time.

Our system requires supremely fit players.
