Not everyone likes pokies and some feel strongly against them so in that case this post is not for you but understand some people love them and they are a big part of Lebanese/Asian culture in Australia and they are literally the lifeblood of the Canterbury bulldogs vis the leagues club and slapping is a unique part of our pubs not seem elsewhere.

What is everyone’s favourite pokie here?

I really like the lightning link machines and probably my favourite is Tikki fir, the one with the Polynesian theme, but I do have some love for Where’s the Gold and the mermaid machine with the pearls.

I think lightning link (the coins) has really changed the game last couple of years but I’ve only been gong my to pubs a couple of years when I was old enough to pass for 18.

I actually popped the grand prize on one of the lightening ones a few years back. 15k IIRC. Went to put the check in my bank, and there was another local across the road.

$50 into Big Red for a laugh, 5x9s with a roo on the end. 2.5k - collect, babe - where do you want to for our honeymoon? Hello overwater bungalo

Barely touched them since. Save for my wedding night, was never gonna get that lucky again.

My parents are both hilarious and incredibly arsey when it comes to pokies.

They play little and sometimes win big, maybe having a play once every 6 months when they head to the club for a birthday dinner of special event.

So the other day they took me and the wife out to lunch, and after lunch are like "lets go chuck a cheeky $20 in the machine".

So they pop in $20, sit at first machine. Slap Slap Slap away $2. *BOOM* feature and pays out $5. They pull it out saying there is a strategy that once a machine pays out and starts going fast it's done.

Machine #2 they sit at, do the same. Slap away $1 in 15c plays. *BOOM* feature pays out $2. They pull it out.

By this time I'm like "yeah this is a strange strategy, you're only up $4".

Machine #3 they sit at and do the same. Slapping away and about $5 in *BOOM* feature gets hit and goes ballistic. This time the money is counting up and up and up. Stops at $45 for the feature.

They pull out their money and walk home with lunch partly paid for.

I was like "yeah that's flukey", but about 6 months they did a similar thing and came home with $80.

2nd time playing pokies queen of the nile machine rooty hill RSL. 5 queens 1c machine betting 1 per line won 90$. Thought I was rich.
Then me fuckhead dad tells me if was playing a higher bet I could have won 10K. .. sigh.

Went to pick my wife up from work at a club got there too early so had $30 in my wallet played moneybags for a while and took home $200, next night same thing with the $200 went home with $400, following night i gave the missus half and we stayed for about an hour and i got the 5 trains and collected $7502. $30 to $7502 in 3 nights meant to be!

It feels lucky from me, and it is lucky. But I don't push it because I gambled more when I was younger and I know how unlikely I am to actually win big.

Yeah I think the wins are there, I myself have won last 4/5 times I played. The last time I just put in 20.
I think the machine relies on you wanting/ chasing more.m and it undies your hard work through hypnotic techniques.
