It might have been convient to plead guilty but they did and they knew they would be branded drug cheats. It wasn’t in the off season either they missed games at the end of 2014 and it was 12 month suspension that was backdated.That's because of how grey the entire situation was. The basically had 2 options:
(a) Please guilty get a 3 month suspension from the game (which was very convenient considering it was the off-season)
(b) Fight the chargers and risk 2 years to life ban from the game.
Of course they were going to plead guilty, it doesn't mean they were.
Look at us, in 2004, we got fined $500,000 by the NRL for bringing the game into disrepute because of the rape bullshit. Did we do anything? No... yet we were fined.
We were never fined because of the rape we were fined because the players wore thongs and shorts to a police interview.
