Until I see who replaces him, I'm not excited by this news. If anything I thought he added value to our poor team. Not sure if he would have been any good once we are firing but he was one of the lesser of our problems.

Anyway, hope he does well and gets abit more out of the game

Hull fan here. Just how bad is he? :tearsofjoy:

Think the plan is for us to use him at SR. Does he have any redeeming qualities?
As long as you don’t play him on the wing.
He ran over Cameron Smith twice in one game a few years ago and has built a career over those two runs.
Good luck to him

Big body, better SR than winger. Defensively poor in the NRL. But I reckon he goes alright in the ESL. He plays well in our NSW cup just not up to NRL level

HULL FC SIGN NRL FORWARD JAYDEN OKUNBOR AS OVERSEAS RECRUITMENT

Hull FC sign NRL forward Jayden Okunbor as overseas recruitment nears completion

Hull FC have signed another NRL player for the 2024 season.

Hull FC have signed Canterbury Bulldogs powerhouse Jayden Okunbor. The Black and Whites have been keen to add an overseas back-rower to their ranks, and they now have their man, with Hull Live understanding the deal has been finalised this week.

Hull have been linked with Shawn Blore from Wests Tigers this year and also showed some interest in Gold Coast Titans' Jacob Alick, but it's Okunbor who will now join the club in what is an exciting coup for next year.

Hull Live understands that Hull moved quickly and efficiently to secure Okunbur, who joins fellow overseas signings Herman Ese'ese and Franklin Pele, the latter of whom is also from the Bulldogs. All three players certainly add size and depth to Hull's forward pack while also adding mobility, two things that head coach Tony Smith has heavily desired.

Okunbor, who is also capable of playing on the wing, therefore ticks plenty of boxes, with the club identifying his size to bolster their forward pack. The 26-year-old, who stands at 6 foot 5 and weighs 108kg, certainly offers that and the athleticism to go with it.

Born in Sydney, he has played 43 NRL games to date for the Bulldogs since debuting in 2019, scoring 15 tries. He has also been a regular for the Sydney-based club this year, turning out 17 times, and has played the majority of his recent appearances in the back-row after coming off the interchange, and even starting on the wing, in the early part of the season.

Okunbor, meanwhile, is of both Nigerian and Zimbabwean descent, something that is interesting itself given that Hull FC announced a development partnership with Nigeria last year. He is the third of four new quota signings for next season.

On that front, Hull are keen to get a new half-back to replace Jake Clifford over the line and have held serious talks with Connor Watson's representatives, although they face NRL competition to get that particular deal over the line. They are also on the hunt for further domestic signings to add to Jack Ashworth and Liam Tindall, with recent progress understood to have been made.

He’s the tall black guy with the dreads.
He has bad agility, but absolutely dominates the NSW cup. Big and strong, capable of big plays but defensively questionable.
Probably wouldn’t be in high demand. If he stayed in the nrl, I think someone might take a punt on him as a squad player due to his physicality as a project but not in the 17.
Not your best signing but still might have an effect
