Opinion NRL MUST BE PROUD

It's all about tries and the GAMBLING ODDS :rage:
Sadly the change of the rules have taken away the real contest...
If you team suits the new rules you are OK if not TOUGH ******* LUCK !!!
They are turning the game into Trots, Horse or Greyhound racing, Fans are only needed for the atmosphere and merchandise...AND OF CAURSE GAMBLING :cry::cry:

Absolutely spot on

Gotta say the game isn’t great at the moment ... referees are terrible and are given easy ways to reward teams without any real oversight ...
Forward passes need to be able to checked also as we saw in the knights game yesterday a fair try disallowed because the TJ was too far behind the play and just called it forward when it wasn’t

Oh and can we have less fucking betting ads ..... I like betting on the footy / nba but I don’t need to be reminded every ad break
Also the sports bet ads with same game multi suggest you’d get 81 to 1 odds on two anytime tryscorers and head to head result is complete nonsense , odds would be closer to 7 dollars

they say gamble responsibly lol, but they don't give a fuck they just want your money
Just window dressing. They make it very easy for you to gamble.

Labor lost a state election in Tasmania because the Federal Hotels group organised a massive campaign against them Why? Labor wanted to restrict the open access to poker machines in their pubs because problem gambling was becoming an epidemic.

The pubs won the election for the Liberals with the fake argument that all pubs would be forced out of business, and thousands would be out of work if Labor tried to restrict poker machine access. Every pub had huge signs declaring "Save our jobs. Don't vote Labor". All their staff were under orders to spread the message that Labor's "nanny state" would shut your local.

That's how serious they are about gambling responsibly.

Well said Chris. The problem is they're so corrupt and the states make huge revenue off pokie machine taxes and betting agencies that they don't want actual regulation and control to look after their citizens. It's disgraceful how many gambling and alchohol ads are allowed in one ad break whereas you can't advertise cigarettes.. Future generations grow up being surrounded by a gambling culture.

I don't smoke and I do gamble but I'm objective enough to see the damage it causes, the hypocrisy in the laws and how scary it has gotten across the board.

But always remember, gamble responsibly! If they say that, there's no problem! Haha

If they could get their way, the gambling institutions would lend you money at high interest rates so you could gamble with them.

The worst thing is withdrawal cancellations on betting websites. That should be completely illegal and can completely send someone on tilt. Once you make a withdrawal, it should be final.. Some sites leave the withdrawal there for days if it's over a weekend..

There are also fuck all deposit limits and regulations in that regard. They're happy for someone to potentially lose their life savings in one day if they're impulsive/irresponsible enough.

There are zero measures to protect the punter and it's all geared towards the agencies.

That's terrible. I don't gamble because I've seen what it does to otherwise decent people, so I'm not aware of the tricks the institutions get up to with their accounts. I'd never give a gambling company my money, because I don't trust what might be behind those organisations.

I've seen some pretty shady characters at the casino in Montreux when I was hosting the Swiss tours. Elegantly dressed guys in their luxury limousines, surrounded by goons that would terrify the biggest NRL player. It wasn't hard to imagine they were laundering money. The gambling institutions need lots of mug punters so they can put up the facade of being legitimate.

Why’s it up to Vlandys to even out the comp. If teams can’t implement a system as good as melb they shouldn’t be rewarded. They have turned Paps, Olam and many others into superstars when no one else wanted them. Bottom teams only have there own recruitment and management to blame. We’ve picked up Burton next year. Potentially our best signing in decades, could well change our fortunes with further recruiting. It’s up to the club not to fuck this up, not vlandys
But he has done the opposite with the set re-starts. He has created a chasm rather than a gap as it has been previously. The NRL decided in about 1989 that they wanted to be a socialist competition & it was working for a while but the legal action which ended the draft, the failure to police the cap & the constant addition or exceptions to the cap have blown it out of the water. But this is what happens with socialism, you end up with a few very very rich & many many more poor.

Spoke to an old timer he told me we were shit in the 50s and 60s late sixties bullfrog came along turned us into a feared power house he signed bob macarthy and gary stevens they changed our culture what we need is another bob macarthy to change our culture once again a new bullfrog would help too

That is exactly right. The Roosters signed one Souths star & then Bullfrog went & saw McCarthy to see if he would come across. Nobody ever thought that any of the Rabbitohs would ever leave so they didn't ask them before that. It was the straw that broke the Rabbitoh's back.

Same with Labor who have their Labor Clubs chock full of them.

A lot of it is to bring in more revenue for the Goverments to spend. They like to tax the crap out of people. Look at New York who were going bust until Pelosi saved them with the COVID bill. Now they have legallised pot so they can get more revenue because half the state has left because of high taxes, restrictive policing & no freedom.

Gambling will dry up when every favourite is paying $1.01 because the comp is so predictable. The only betting will be on exotics like first try scorer etc

Ever read the Crown report? Wholesale money laundering Australia wide. Every state.

The most disturbing thing is that only one team has failed to score a point this round, same as the only team not to score a point last round.

Yeah we are totally shit and have the worst forward back in the competition by a mile. Possibly the worst forward pack in the competition in living memory.

There some value in 1 to 5 margin point in a blow outs between 30 to 40 point win. 3 games should give odds over 1000 to 1

Definitely shit.!!!

The last decade we’ve been in two grand finals and roosters three. We just butchered our cap.
We got to 2012 through a once in a generation player in Ben Barba. 2014 was through our fight and tenacity. Roosters purchased elite established talent after holding their cap money for years prior to 2013 which you cannot do now.

Agree and said the same thing after the game on Friday. Instead of blaming the NRL and referees with conspiracy nonsense our problems have and remain much closer to home. We’re making progress but as results can’t yet be seen on the field the venting suggests otherwise. No-one likes watching our club this way but we just have to keep taking steps forward. That said, I do agree with the dislike of lopsided results - I’d prefer to win a tough competition than have half the teams be weak, even if the Dogs were winning.
