NRL considering changing kick-off rules in an attempt to stop blowouts

It's quite obvious why so many blowouts happen now. Rather than fix the issue they created by rescinding the rule change causing the issue, let's change another rule. The obvious solution is to get rid of the repeat set rule.

But it's seemed to be a rule created specifically to give referees more simple means to orchestrate results in my opinion. So getting rid of it wouldn't fit the NRL's plans.

They really are the dumbest *****...

How are you supposed to make a comeback down two tries late in the game? Say you're down 10 with 6 minutes to go... You score a try with 4 minutes left setting up a thrilling finish to the game but instead you kick off and the opposition keeps the ball and kills the game... This will lead to even less close games!

Don't even call it Rugba League anymore. Just call it V-Ball or something..

This might sound funny but with the state of the game the NRL has created anything is possible.
The NRL to introduce a rule that will stop blowouts, when a team is down by 20 or 30 say it is allowed continuous possession ie (no tackle count,) until it has scored a few try's at least.

At the very least shows poor decisions are starting to bite in terms of lack of interest low tv ratings and probs drop in memberships. The fact no QLD teams look like they will make the finals again would also be very concerning to the nrl in terms of relevance and potential pay day from the finals.

A band aid solution for a festering sore. Vlandys is changing the fundamentals of the game in a chase for bums on seats. Rugby league is more than just spectacular tries. The flogs at the top will only address the situation properly if the game goes into decline.

What a fucking farce.

Scenario: with the head contact crackdown, what happens when a player gets sin binned for apparent foul play... Attacking team scores and then has to kick off to the team with 12 men. So if they manage the game and maintain possession for the remainder of the sin bin time. It's a fuck up just waiting to happen lol.

Also we all know refs manage certain teams into the game... So really all you would see for some teams is that the scoring team kicks off, but you can bet that as soon as they regain possession they will receive a dodgy six again call.
More than that; they will try to keep the team in possession down on their own line from the kick off, and will be allowed to infringe the ten, and have markers either side of the play the ball, as the top sides are currently allowed to do without penalty.

There is another way to stop the blowout, make tries worth 2 points.
So instead of being flogged 50 nil it will just be 25 nil.
It doesn't look as bad.
How about three points? That's what they used to be worth.

Hows these news paper hacks, claiming this is a good idea... there reasoning is " so everyone calms down and does not concentrate on the negatives in the game just sprout the positives" like how great the tries are in the game......... WTF.

Soooo. Let me get this correct. Your reward for working hard and scoring a deserved Try. Is to give the ball to the opposition.

I think they should just draw winners from a bingo wheel. And everyone gets a participation medal.
Yeh agree
U get into a grind after being behind
U score a try at the death and ur fucked. Opp team moves upfield pops a 2 pt field goal against ur 11man side. Rugba leg 2021

Nrl wont do this anyway. They r too spooked with the backlash to their rule changes i believe.

Just make the six again rule only applicable inside opposition 20 meter zone, as it was only brought in to nullify team impeding the ruck whilst defending their own goal line.

Seriously what’s next?
Drop ball rules.
That's another area that bugs me. Not every lost ball is a knock-on. A good half of dropped balls in any game are lost backward, yet the ref calls knock on.
