possibly right..but yes we will need about 3 very good recruits because we're still up against it if we don't get some better big boppers and a very good 9, plus some additional depth in the forwards and a versatile back(centre/winger)or two.

Have to have hope still things will be on the improve as soon after this week one win(cowboys) can lead to a couple more in following month, our draw isn't anywhere near as bad.
We have these keepers for next season and beyond to build the club around which is the most talented core we've had in ten plus seasons..

Burton, Addo--Carr, Cotric, Thompson, Jackson, Elliott, Topine, Averillo plus Alamoti, Doorey, Schoupp all near the minimum.. Not to mention Rajab and other great juniors coming through..

We could easily sign Clarke, Kenny, Starling or Simpkin at hooker which would all be massive upgrades..

Sign one of Rudolph, Vaughan, Sutton and two of Afoa, Horsburgh, Guler, Hamlin- Uele, F. Pele etc at prop as well as Kurt Capewell as a second rower and still have money left over for a youngster or two from another club or even target a cheap fullback and/or centre..

So it's not all doom and gloom and going to take another four years as the hysterical media would love to have us believe..

So how will it take a few years then? If we recruit well we'll be a finals team next season with Burton and Fox making a huge difference alone.
Burton and Fox are currently playing in well established systems with people they are familiar with. We don't yet have a well established system. In 2022 they won't be familiar with the people they are playing with.

Anyone expecting Penriff or Storm like levels of performance in 2022 is going to be disappointed. 3-4 years minimum to get to 5-8 standard of performance is realistic. We need to get there first before looking to push on to 1-4 standard. The only way to get to 1-4 is with an established coach/staff, established players, and established system. A decent pathway through juniors is also very helpful. Barrett is across all this, and this alone makes him better than Des or Pay.

I disagree on the timeline and appreciate they're playing in better teams etc but both are rep calibre talent and that translates anywhere. Burton has dominated at every level so there's no reason to think he's not good enough to make an impact straight away.

The argument of looking good in a great culture rings truer for more mediocre players like Stimson, Allan, Hetherington, Flanagan etc but people need to just appreciate what a talent Burton is and how lucky we are to have signed him.

Anyway, recruitment the rest of the way is vital for next season. If they don't recruit well and make some panic signings, then it will delay things for sure. But thankfully we have lots of cap space and plenty of options so hopefully things go well.
