Exactly this. The degree of bending the rules/expectations/excuses for tolman is mind blowing.
Tolman was a SOO shadow player back in 2012-2013, guess what's happened since then? The game has changed, the type of props have changed and tolman is now NOWHERE near SOO
When we signed tolman from storm he was a fantastic option. He replaced Hannant who arguably offered more with the ball in bending the line but didn’t have the same engine. That was when a lock could be Dallas Johnson, David stagg, Michael luck... can you compare them to Taumalolo now? The forward game has evolved as much as the back game. Matt utai in his time was a devastating winger. Towards the end of his career he was a handicap.
Hooker... Corey Hughes in his prime was very serviceable towards the end...
The roles change, develop. Tolman now really isn’t much chop. For a team that lacks a decent prop sure he’s a starter. He’s serviceable. He won’t make much impact with ball at all but he will sure up the ruck and go all day. A team like the warriors, tigers, knights etc need this. Even eels to replace mannah.
We have klemmer and woods. Both light years ahead in attack and more then serviceable in Defense.
We would be far better having his $$$ to upgrade another position. If he was a big unit who could come on and give us a solid 40 minutes with ball and d sure. He’s not
And won’t be that kind of player ever.
It’s not his fault it’s just poor recruitment and management.
