Surely you jest lolMontoya is 500 times better than Skelton.

Yeh inclined to agree. Errors and fitness are his main issues. I watched Skelton from the stands, when we played Manly 2x in R26 @ Elim final @ Accor. He cost us at least 2 tries on his wing. Yes he can be a damaging runner but I could see Cherry-Evan’s was targeting him late in the game. Both games during the last 15-20 mins he could barely run & turn. Seemed to get bad cramp. I ask myself, if so, what was wrong with his fitness at such a late stage in the season. No great loss in my view.I didn't watch enough of Skelton to get a good read on his flaws. But he spent 4 years at the rebels in union consistently being overlooked. Then followed that up by being overlooked consistently at our club.
I know that he was hard to stop in the lower grades and seemed to make meters at will. But it's quite possible that he gets overlooked for good reason. I don't know what that reason is, but I have pretty much only seen his handful of NRL games last season and his errors can be on very basic things. It'll be interesting to see if he makes the step up under Marshall.
Yes got it. Wilson has scored 10 tries in 21 games for us, & a few of those tries came about because of his pace. He’s quick. Was hugely impressed especially in that R14 game v Parra, 2 great tries esp the one off a break by Tracey on right wing. Wilson was forced outside touch, & then ran back into play again (never say die!!) to take final pass to win the match. IMO well worth his wing spot until Montoya proves he’s better. It's a mixed bag on that really. I'm a fan of Wilson. I'm pretty sure that his first year with us was his first in a professional football system and he did enough to earn his debut that year. I don't think he's put a foot wrong and if I was on the selection panel I'd reward his form from last year with more games this year. But I'm ok with whichever decision the coaching staff make. They didn't pick Montoya up to run oranges. So I'm going to watch with interest and see who earns the vacant wing.
We need players like this. Passion is there and wants to learn even at this stage of his career. My memory of him he wasn’t that bad. I still wonder why they got rid of him and Curtis Rona - who went to Rugby. I would rather have Montoya who is a real family man. JAC was going off track, but the club is moving forward. Onwards and Upwards. Let’s hope the Bulldogs have a massive go this year as it’s getting painful to watch all these years since the last Premiership Win - 2004. In 2012 we almost did it, but got outsmarted in Grand Final by the Storm.
Came across this interview and love the passion he has. He will have a cracker year for us
are you for real? the team he made his debut in was atrocious, do you not remember the downfall our club was shrouded in? the pressure all of the players faced in that time wouldve been horrible to say the least. now he can come back to play for an actual team with structure and courage and enjoy he his footyPurely for the sake of my club, I hope this does not end in tears…. If I’m wrong I’ll be first to admit it, but this bloke will make a costly mistake let alone the uncostly ones.
feet for hands, killed us SOOOO many times, I sat through those shit years, and I believe he represents that.
If he gets picked ,i have watched our game against the warriors rd 25 a few times didnt really impress, scored yeah, took a few runs yes impressive nah ,speed nah its CCs decision and ill back whoevers in Blue and White!a lot of ppl have negative comments about montoya when i in fact enjoyed his first run with us the guy was a good player who debut in a team full of pressure and going down hill...
and given that we are still short of some heavy hitting forwards he will really help our defensive set returns out of our goal line area and relive the forwards of some pressure. let the dude play before having a sook based on your opinions
Let's not reduce this to a 2-horse race.
Remember Sua and Tuala are wingers too.
4 very capable players - all trying to impress.
What's not to like ?
C'mon DOGGIES!!!
That's probably opposite to the reason I like Wilson, he seems reliable, and even makes metres or takes the option to secure not getting dragged out as much as a person would think. Catches balls on the fly, etc. Hopefully the competition and season keeps them both at their best for when each is needed at 1st grade.Montoya was poor when he was first at the Dogs but Wilson has butter fingers, throws some dodgy passes and gets rag dolled by the opposition.
Both are fringe first graders.
I agree Montoya is better more consistent player more 1st grade games more experience he will do well!!!Surely you jest lol

I was at that game also. 100% agree, he cost us at least two tries.Yeh inclined to agree. Errors and fitness are his main issues. I would think Blake Taaffe would have been our best option at the time, he has had grand final experience (big game experience in semifinals is so important and he was one of the ones who had had it).I was at that game also. 100% agree, he cost us at least two tries.

I was screaming for him to be picked at the time on the wing, it was a gamble worth taking. CC dropped the ball on that selection like it or not!
I posted it the day before the game that he should have been an inclusion and that Skelebomb was schooled by them 2 weeks prior.
Did not matter anyway, we were never going to beat Penrith Melbourne and roosters on the trot.
To a lot of peoples shock, and horror on here I seriously think Marcelo Montoya will scored three tries in round one! 1st grade!
Skelebomb was schooled, Wilson injured, JAC not available, Eli Clarke and Jonathan Sua were played the week prior and were clearly not ready for 1st grade. Laugh all you want it was slim pickings.blake tafe on the wing? lol
i don’t think he has ever played on the wing bro.
maybe you could have played him at fullback and move tracey to the wing but then your moving too many players around.
