Montoyas homecoming

I'm not a fan of either Wilson nor Montoya
Seriously most importantly team first..
So whatever the selection comes through the coaching staffs and whoever takes the first choice for the Wing spot I'll back that up. But both players are so exciting to watch
But I'll go Montoya first 17

I love his attitude and his passion definitely someone good to have on board. He's improved being at the Warriors I think he will go to another level this season. Looking forward to this season

Pretty amazing that people rate him above Wilson in my opinion, Wilson's had part of a season and was great for us, im glad CC has the decision to make and i'll go with his judgment he's made mostly good decisions so far
If I was Gould & Ciraldo when picking the round 1 team I would certainly pick Wilson

I felt Montoya had focus problems drifting in and out when he last played for us. He did improve this at the warriors and definitely evolved into a more complete package than what he was. He has size and ok speed. Perhaps he can replicate the journey Kiraz took and found himself back at our club with success. As for who takes over JAC spot, noone is a definite in my opinion. He was brought here to create competition. It's up to the candidates to own the spot.

Tuala and Montoya are solid additions to the squad. Adds much needed depth and experience to the backline.

He was decent at times with the Warriors. Certainly better than he was with us. I'm not the biggest fan of the signing but it wouldn't surprise me if he was better than I or others expect. I still would have liked us to keep Skelton but whats done is done.

I expect him to play well .... to me he fits our system very nicely and i have not the slightest problem in the world if selected to start.

I was interested in him as a free agent before he signed with us. He was one of The Warriers best in 2023 .... 10th in the entire comp for run meters. Last season was a down year as he carried a groin injury for the second half of the competition.

A sneaky good signing in my opinion.

Montoya scores those important tries from close range that Skelton couldn't last season. Wilson also struggled at times to get the ball over the stripe in traffic.

Let's not forget how terrible The Bulldogs were when he last played with us .... playing in the outside backs/winger in a shithouse team is not ideal for a young inexperienced player looking to impress. Very limited opportunities with ball in hand and PLENTY of traffic coming at you.

He is also a very good human who trains the house down ..... Former captain of our junior rep teams.

Absolutely, huge welcome home Monty..you will kill it for us in the blue an white, and repay the faith

he will start, he will stay on his wing, and he will be one of our top try scorers in 25.!!! Wasn’t signed to play reserves, was signed to prove he takes fox spot a keeps it, no disrespect to Wilson either, incase you all go at me. The best man will take the spot at the end of the day.

happy to be proven wrong, but I believe he will prove a lot of you haters wrong. I was never a big fan, don’t get me wrong.. but seeing what he did at the warriors and the player he has become gives new hope. I’m 100% supporting him until he gives me reason not to!!

Well spoken

I agree

It's a mixed bag on that really. I'm a fan of Wilson. I'm pretty sure that his first year with us was his first in a professional football system and he did enough to earn his debut that year. I don't think he's put a foot wrong and if I was on the selection panel I'd reward his form from last year with more games this year. But I'm ok with whichever decision the coaching staff make. They didn't pick Montoya up to run oranges. So I'm going to watch with interest and see who earns the vacant wing.
Montoya was poor when he was first at the Dogs but Wilson has butter fingers, throws some dodgy passes and gets rag dolled by the opposition.
Both are fringe first graders.

Let's not reduce this to a 2-horse race.
Remember Sua and Tuala are wingers too.
4 very capable players - all trying to impress.
What's not to like ?
C'mon DOGGIES!!!

Guts me
We lost Skelton when Jac fucked up

I didn't watch enough of Skelton to get a good read on his flaws. But he spent 4 years at the rebels in union consistently being overlooked. Then followed that up by being overlooked consistently at our club.

I know that he was hard to stop in the lower grades and seemed to make meters at will. But it's quite possible that he gets overlooked for good reason. I don't know what that reason is, but I have pretty much only seen his handful of NRL games last season and his errors can be on very basic things. It'll be interesting to see if he makes the step up under Marshall.

He isnt the same player that played for us before, he blitzed us playing for Warriors.
Cant have 17 superstars. Im happy with trusting the process.

Great interview, seems super humble and passionate about the club.

Love when he talks about being “coachable”, always learning, we all are!

Hope he has a great year.
