I still think we needed to persist with Allan at Fullback. Guy was pretty average in the chances he was given, but a few weeks isn't anywhere as best as much as what some others have been given.

In saying that Allan's defense in the centres last night against Ramien has to be commended.
I bagged Allen at fullback as I didn't see him having the urgency as a last line of defence.
However as centre, he seems to know where he is defensively. He played as well as any last night.
Shame Tui Katoa make hard work harder with his defensive reads. Tui has nice footwork and speed in attack but must focus more in class when defense lessons are held.

Kid has talent but is no where near in the class of other fullbacks. He is way too small and soft. Watch DwZ kick returns and watch Meaneys. He is a good kid but def nowhere near the type of FB we need if we want to compete with top teams
Totally agree dwz back to fb meaney to replace katoa

Leave the kid at FB. Re-sign him. Invest more money into the hooking position. The kids for speed, safe under the high ball, positional play is good. Let him have a decent crack at FB.

That try he scored last night off a set play was a cracker. Put his body on the line and barged over.

He has always been shuffled between FB and wing. Leave him there the rest of this year and watch him shine.
With some added bulk he could be a very good player.

Meaney is still young. For a small soft person as spme of you are saying.
. He put on a decent hit and spin against Hardened Men last night

Meaney won't ever be like Papenhuyzen, but there is no reason why he can't improve his game out of sight like Ryan has. All Nick needs us better players around him, confidence and proper specialist coaching.
This
Ive always liked Meaney.
His only downfall I reckon is he is soft.
If he ran as hard as DWZ and as youve said received specialized coaching, I think he could be a great asset.
He'll never be a superstar but surely he has alot more in him.

What's his ceiling though? Is there a world he's a Top 10 Fullback?

In no particular order
1. Tedesco
2. Papenhuyzen
3. Ponga
4. RTS
5. Trbojevic
6. Latrell
7. Gutherson
8. Brimson
9. Kennedy
10. CNK
11. Edwards
12. Dufty
13. Laurie
14. Isaako
15. Holmes

I think he's a Bottom 3 Fullback, no fault of his own.
He's definitely better than that fraud Isaako. Kennedy overrated also imo.

I've thought Meaney should get the chance to make the fullback position his own since we signed him. I think he's the best option at defusing attacking kicks at the club and that's a crucial part of the game. He's grown in confidence in attack with every game he gets at the back. But for some reason he keeps getting shifted back to the wing.

While this season looks like it's beyond us for reaching the finals I'd love to see him get the chance to show what he's got there. DWZ was great in the 1 the last couple of weeks as well. So perhaps it's not doing him any justice if he comes back on a wing. But I still like Meaney back there because he rarely makes a bad decision with kick reception.

It's a tough one as DWZ gave us so much go forward from fullback with his fearless runs and massive metres the last few weeks and quick play the balls..

Meaney is still effective on the wing whereas Dallin seems to struggle on the wing. It's a good problem to have with some players finally playing well..

Meaney and Renouf are doing more than enough to get re-signed. Despite much better games from Hoppa and Napa, they should still be moved on regardless. We need to move on from those two..
Agree on the Napa and hoppa front, they played well yesterday, and may put us in a position where we can offer both players to other clubs,in exchange, for someone else hoppa is a great clubman, but the modern game has caught up with him.

All the flip flops on the Kennel are out in force. Bag them out when the team is losing, hype them up after 1 win "sign them up"

Funny how things change after one game. Last week a lot on here wanted them all sacked, now they want a lot of them retained. Go figure.
We have to re sign a few of them because theirs no one to replace them with no point letting them go to replace them with other fringe players just for the sake of it. Players like meaney, atoni, okunbor , Chris smith should be re signed they're handy players to have in your squad. The rest can go but.

If you notice he did a lot in organising on the line defence including dragging players of a tackled player to avoid another 6 again.
I liked what I saw last night and if this becomes his bench game and builds rest of the year I’d be happy to resign but give him another 8 weeks to prove it. For the money we would need to spend to get a better replacement would mean maybe missing out on other keys positions that need attention.

That day he ran close to the length of the field on the kick return against Wests at Campbelltown - rd 3 2019? - was poetry in motion.

The Isaako thing is debatable, better goal kicker, more dynamic runner but pretty inconsistent.

Disagree with Kennedy, he's been one of Cronulla's best this year, made huge improvements to his game this season.

Meaney is good but we need better. Barrett is sticking with 7. Flano and 6. Burto indefinitely. Therefore we need a rockstar fullback and hooker to give the spine what it needs. Without this we never make the top 8.
