I just saw on ‘Zero Tackle and Fox sports websites’ tonight. Nick Meaney has flown to meet with Craig Bellamy via the Storms QLD hub. This is all to do with offering him a deal for next year. I think it will be a shame to lose him as I think he’s played well this year - in a losing team. He must’ve played well - if the storm are talking to him too.

It’s a shame he will be gone very soon.

I just re-read the fox sports report and found Cronulla Sharks are also interested in Meaney.

Natural footballer. Needs to bulk up just a little bit more to go to the nek level. Shame if we lose imo

Averillo - yes keep as a priority.
Schoup - yes keep.
Meaney - If the plan is to play JAC at fullback Melbourne may be a better option for Meaney.
Dourey - borderline average.
JMK - I would definitely offer him another contract. There could be interest from another club.
Wakeham - reserve grader. He is contracted for next season isn’t he?

It's interesting or perhaps concerning that we've signed DWZ and Alan to play FB and Meany who is on a fraction of their money is IMHO a better FB than both.
Some of our clubs horrendous recruiting will cost us ones we wanna keep both a waste of money and add Cotric to that list $2 million of cap space wasted

Doorey is an interesting one, obviously got rattled from Talakai hit. Despite that though he's been pretty average when you compare him to how his debut was and games following... However that probably a reflection of our spine prior to last week

Ridiculous comment on Doorey
Many players take 50 games to adjust to first grade
Some can star at 18, most can’t
Some don’t handle in until they are closer to 22-23
Very early days to be writing him off

He will be an Average NRL first grader if that.
Went OK last game.
Before that game he has made zero impact in games with minimal run meters.

Agree he went OK last game.
Before that poor in my option.
He may get to the level of average 1st grade edge forward.

He certainly showed something we he debuted, but seems to have gone into his shell a bit.

It’s the kennel. You only need to have an okay game to forget everything previously and want to re-sign. See every player thread since Monday night.

I think Topine has much more promise than Doorey not the same size obviously but is a good year behind Matt and would be nearly as developed imo.
If we had to choose maybe we don't yet but I'd take JT any day.

Not everyone is Sonny Bill, Sam Walker

Most players in fact take quite some time to find their feet and perform consistently in first grade

Brent Sherwin is one that comes to mind
Was our most frustrating player for his first couple of years, found consistency and confidence at the top level and became a premiership halfback and a club legend
