If Barrett meets the realistic expectations set by the board he should be extended in advance like Titans did with Holbrook (basically before Barrett enters his last year contracted so it isn't talked about).
I can't see Barrett going anywhere anytime soon, we are not Manly.......besides even Pay was given an extension and he was with all due respect and due purposes, he was shit as our head coach. There was even talks about extending him further before the board came to its senses.

Well if wakeham or lewis got a better offer to play Fg would you stop them? I wouldnt.
That's the issue with not having internationals. If Wakeham played well and got on with Kikau he would be able to talk his mate up as a swap offer.

Hes their 4th string half. I dont think it will hurt their club much.
Not laughing at you, buddy....just think its hilarious that they would put May above Burton in the pecking order. They wonder why they lost him lol

Mansour wants 3 years and Tigers offering 2 apparently is why it's taking time to do a deal.

Panthers have shopped Whare around with no takers so if Dogs offered that you'd be a very good chance to get what you want with Burton. So a little pain for a gain.
Prefer to wait a year than carry someone who’s best years are behind them and wants a multi year deal.

Think we play hard and say no compensation outside of a transfer and let Burton’s manager sort it out with the Panthers.

While they are perfectly within their rights to retain him and he did after all sign a contract, it’s not a great look for the Panthers to hold him back from a year of first grade when careers are already very short.

Depends why they keep him. We genuinely need depth at centre as our next batch is two years off minimum.

Honestly they are right, they deserve compo for the talent they bring through. Just because everyone else has copped the lost of junior talent doesnt mean it should continue without change. There should be incentive for teams to develop the youth, and part of the incentive is reward if they cant be retained.
Penrith make out as if they are the only ones that are a victim of there own success, they are not - but this has been going on forever. Some kind of reform could be looked at though.

Have a look at our 2004 premiership team and see how many players were developed by us as juniors & made their 1st grade debut with us.
The Fact is that most of them made their 1st grade debut with us & what did we get when they left "SWEET F@CK ALL".
So my message to you Panthers is "SUCK IT UP".

1. Luke Patten - 1st grade debut with Dragons - Dragons got nothing from us.
2. Hazem El Masri - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, one club player.
3. Ben Harris - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we may have got a transfer fee when he went to Bradford Bulls as he was still contracted.
4. Willie Tonga - 1st grade debut with Eels, we gave Eels nothing when we brought him over
5. Matt Utai - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Tigers
6. Braith Anasta - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Roosters
7. Brent Sherwin - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to England

8. Mark O'Meley - 1st grade debut with Norths, Then Northern Eagles - we gave them nothing when we brought him over
9. Adam Perry - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, One Club Player
11. Willie Mason - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Roosters
12.Andrew Ryan - 1st grade debut with Eels, we gave Eels nothing when we brought him over
14. Reni Maitua - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Sharks
13. Tony Grimaldi - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to England before Returning to Bulldogs

Res:
15. Corey Hughes - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Sharks
16. Roy Asotasi - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Souths
17. Sonny Bill Williams - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he Ran away to Union
18. Johnathan Thurston - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Cowboys

10. Steve Price injured captain (didn't play) - 1st grade debut with Bulldogs, we got nothing when he went to Warriors

14 Players out of that squad of 18 were developed into 1st grade players by us & made their 1st grade debut with us.

SHIT HAPPENS, Get on with it.

Our argument has always been that you shouldn't have had to deal with that or have to again. The fact you got sweet nothing is the problem we see in the game. Your club put the time and effort into them and got what? 1 good season return on your investment and a lasting what if in the fans memory.

I won’t do them much good either so why would they want to do it? If it’s the Dogs in that situation would do it?
Don’t think it’s a case of doing the Dogs a favour (though undoubtedly that is the end result), more about them, or any other club, wanting to see players that come through their system excel, particularly if they are not the ones that they have settled on being their long term options.
