Official Marcelo Montoya signed to end of 26

Gus needs to have a big signing up his sleeve to lost Fox. Us here on the kennel are 50/50 in him but let’s not forget how popular he is with the younger fans.
something must be brewing.
Gus landed his man with Montoya

Montoya solid nothing special.. No guarentee to make FG

I doubt Gus would of paid much so I feel it's a good signing. He was good ball runner and reasonable finisher this year. Offers us experience and good depth too.
There are people saying Gus didn’t sign Montoya it was Ciraldo. We all know it was Gus bringing back the farm.

Couldn’t be effed reading the comments but if someone really compared Montoya to To’o they need to hand in any RL knowledge they have.
To’o is possibly the hardest working winger in the history of the game. Not only is he a metre eater he beats anyone opposition winger to the try line
Reminds me of Matt Utai.

It looks like JAC is leaving (if he can get a start). The wingers we have now except Wilson and Kiraz are not quite setting the world on fire.
Clark looks like leaving, Sua is borderline good, and Samrani needs to lift.
That makes Montoya a good addition to the squad. And the price must have been right.

JAC should still be there too he said could be a back up

It’s because JAC is injury prone and Montoya is a strong beast. MARTY HULME also said GUS is doing a deal in Fiji.

Addo Carr will should be there next year but there is no club that will take him for that money.

Montoya will be good is is strong especially close to the line. Trust in the process boys

Montoya randomly came up on tiktok. He's got a whole thing going with his missus. Surely he's playing cup if he's a part time tiktoker

Others will understand this better than I do, but doesn't this mean there was not a single outside back in the lower grades deserving of a top 30 spot for 2026?
Even with Skelton and possibly Clark leaving?
Montoya has experience and a good training attitude apparently, but I would have hoped we had some talent coming through by now.
MAybe 2026?

Good point about attitude. It'll create squad depth and competition in that position, keeping wingers on their toes, needed more than ever since reliable, smart but strong wingers has become so important.
It's easy to neglect that position and this might help us secure extra wins and have experience in the later part of season.
Another benchmark in and around training for juniors to try topple.

Must be to replace Skelton rather than JAC.

I would only be happy to lose JAC if it was to swap for To'o.

I hope so.
I hope the plan isn't to have Boy Wonder Mitchell Woods prmoteed to first grade & passing the ball or kicking grubbers to players like Marcelo Montoya. Great finisher that he is.

Expecting a big body starting prop and landing a winger in Montoya LOL. If this is a replacement for JAC we should be signing Sivo.'

Hopefully it's just for depth to replace Skelton and we're keeping JAC at least until the end of 2025

This is good in theory if CC wasn't a pick and stick kind of coach. Bennett and Bellamy have no problems of sending underperformers back to reggies. CC took 18 rounds with Perham and 8 rounds with Hutcho and Salmon is still an 80 minute starter.
