It isn't some conspiracy mate.
You can only apply for dispensation when injuries occur in REP GAMES (including All stars, etc), not training, not other games. Crighton is slightly different but it will be refused anyway, it's in that grey area of how much of it is an injury and how much is external.
If the NRL put in this allowance for training do you realise how much it would be abused? You'd have every club asking for it 10 times a week.
Irrelevant and it couldn’t be abused if implemented properly. Simple reason being if you say player x has y injury and will be out for z length of time, they have to be out that long, end of story. So how can they abuse this? If you do it 10 times a week as you say, there won’t be enough players for a comp after a month lol.
If they allow compensation for Crichton and not others it’s complete BS. Even if it’s proven to be a medical condition from no fault of his own, so what? The result is still the same to our situation in that we have a player injured through no fault of his own. We know he’ll miss the season though, whereas Crichton’s time out is undetermined. And Crichton is rumoured to have done something that caused the onset of his ailment. If a player becomes ill or injured from doing drugs, being negligent etc, then no, there shouldn’t be compensation, but for most other cases why not? Look at Dragons and their boy Ramsay. Ruled out for the season through no fault of his own, but just bad luck in acquiring a serious gastrointestinal disease. AFAIK they won’t get compo for that which is ridiculous. Surely them being able to sign someone up to the value of Ramsay’s contract is fair?
