Opinion Lipoi Hopoi

I can’t see him anywhere near our top 17.

Showed more this year then patolo both in nrl and reserve grade. With a full preseason he should be more ready if called up on.

Him and Kautoga have the potential and do well in reserves. Just need to level up to do it in NRL.

Kautoga appears to be in the dog house after the Storm game. As for Hopoi I don’t think he even starts in NSW Cup next year

my question is why the fuck did ciraldo have him on the bench and not use him for like 5games? wasted his time on the bench and wasted a rotation for others on the field who needed a break. its one thing to build endurance but to waste a rotation is crazy

He's still young needs a lot of game time but still learning needs to really read the game plan and execute on game day with at list some Big plays.
Harry Hayes
Hayward , morrin just look at how much confidence no nonsense on game day they read the game plan and execute with big plays.
That's why CC keeps them in the mixed to unlock broken plays or tired forwards

Seen as part of the future hence the dev spot then top 30.. a good year in Cup occasionally getting a call up off the bench..

I think he has a lot to offer. Should get more game time and should be used more in the front row both in FG and NSW Cup. He will only get better.

Good young player if he wants it he will be a regular in a few seasons.

Reserve grade player, dogs will push him out end of next year
Heard it here first
Yo facts dogs push out all locals every week its disgraceful and they just import qlders am i right am i right

Was solid and never let us down but he never stood out either. Hopefully he can keep developing.

It was a bit of a waste using him the way CC did tho. He's not a big impact player so giving him 10-15 at the end of the game didn't help him

It was 2 games - Rd 18 V NZ where we won with 2 mins to go in extra time & Rd 22 V Canberra which finished 22-18. This suggests that Ciraldo wanted to give him a go but maybe worried he may make a mistake which could cost us the game, showing a lack of complete faith in him. He averaged 19 mins in 6 games & his game time went down as the weeks went on - 38,21,17,19,10 & 8. He didn't make any errors or give away any penalties in any game. Averaged 7 runs for 63 metres & 9.3 tackles for 1.7 missed & 1.5 tackle break a game.

If this is how Ciraldo builds respect for our colours then I like it. Earn the right to play in our colours with hunger. I’m for Lipoi a big pre season a year older and some management and genuine care for what he will put his body through this year, I like CC more and more.

surely it was more than that? i remember us playing at least 4games in a row using only 3 players in rotation and wasting the forth person on the bench. i dont recall even seeing him on the field for 6 games other than his 1st 2 games

He’s still young. He now understands the grind of a full year and will have another pre season under his belt. Problem for him is there is a lot more competition for spots next year

The games we used only 16 players in a game this season were:

Rd 9 V Wests Tigers (Jacob Preston missed out)
Rd 18 V New Zealand (Hopoi)
Rd 22 V Canberra (Hopoi)

There were 3 games in a row in 2019
Rd 22 V Souths
Rd 23 V Parramatta
Rd 24 V Nth Qld

All were Jack Cogger.

Hopoi played in rounds 13,14,16,17,21 & 23. Perhaps you mean the gap between rounds 17 & 21.

I think he is good backup. He did nothing wrong and would do well filling in when needed off the bench. Its good we have these players like Kautoga, Morrin, Hayes and Todd. Considering we had players like Patolo others who never really went anywhere.
