Lol WTF did i just readAnd I haven't? Think something like 30 IMTs to date. And when your tired from 7 days, 12 hour shifts for 4 weeks, still dealing with bureacracy blocking mgmt activities that are risking lives or assets, having the guy walk in to remove roadblocks is a god send. Not his 2IC to say we'll look at it.
Kerry bailed because she's a shit public speaker. That was the prems 'request'. She was happy to front. And available. And if you're in the public service, you going against the prem?
Not sure what part of the PS you're in but sounds like you have no idea about what a real IMT is.

Multiple times lol. Guess its not for u as u talk nonsense. Fatigue policy whilst gets manipulated for upper level management, no where near wat u going on with.So no IMTs? Never had to deal with extended crisis mgmt? Guess its not for everyone.
Because most people think of jews when they are talking about Zionists. This is what I don't understand. People have issue with Israel, which is fair enough considering what they're doing. But their response is to attack Jewish people who don't live in Israel. If those people loved Israel so much then they'd live there. Clearly they don't live there because they don't want to be Israeli. So targeting them is stupid.
But I think this is just a brewing issue that has been going on for decades. There's certain people in society that want an excuse to justify their racism and bigotry. They think the actions of the Israeli government gives them justification to spread hate.
Oh twice then. Bet you looked good in that blue tabard tooMultiple times lol. Guess its not for u as u talk nonsense. Fatigue policy whilst gets manipulated for upper level management, no where near wat u going on with.

The issue of him, and his staff, refusing to admit he was not in Australia and the few days speculation as to whether in fact we had the Acting PM (Barnaby?) had a lot to do with the hype and media sensationalism with "the hunt for the PM"...then the thumbs up boardy shorts pic of him in Hawaii came out and the ensuing media hysteria of yet more secretive unnecessary non transparency. The country probably need to know if the PM is in the country, or not, and his location, during times of great National importance or catostrophy. I don't think anyone objected to his holiday per se...just the unnecessary drama and secretiveness of his location and the fact he wasn't up front about taking time off for a family holiday.I definitely think he and the others should be criticised for not being prepared. Hence why I still criticise every politician when they say, "We care about climate change... but we're going to do the opposite of what the experts said"
That said, useless for ScoMo to cancel his holiday and stay. I get that it's a bad look, but that's only 'cause people want to blame someone. PR wise it would have been smarter if ScoMo cancelled his trip, and he is an idiot for not cancelling it. But it's only a PR issue 'cause people are too stupid to realise that ScoMo being in Australia would not have helped in any way.
Sorry Al but that’s not true. The NSW RFS acquired year round access to a B737 tanker in 2019 (under a Liberal Government). This aircraft is based at Richmond outside Sydney during the summer months ready for action as needed. It also goes to places like California during their summer to assist as required.Replying to all three because it applies. But before our last huge bushfire event I think it was the head of the RFS in Australia made numerous requests for some mega aircraft designed for firefighting to be imported to aus from the US as they were seeing the signs. But the liberal government at the time ignored the requests.
And obviously there's been people in the know who've warned those in positions of power that plans need to be implemented to mitigate some of the damage. I know it can't be avoided altogether. But it's hitting a point where I hope these requests aren't ignored.
Tbf - they're not actually that useful in some respects. Holds 15kL of water, has to land at specific sites, be reloaded, then back up and usually there's a travel time because of the airfield needed. A chinook holds 11kL, can pump straight up (or if using a bucket 10kL even quicker) from a farm dam or lake and has no real landing requirements that are difficult. Only needs to be refueled and that can be done anywhere theres a road and a clear space. So you can get more water down quicker with a chopper. And has been shown, planes can be harder to manage safely in a fire zone.Sorry Al but that’s not true. The NSW RFS acquired year round access to a B737 tanker in 2019 (under a Liberal Government). 737 Large Air Tanker - NSW Rural Fire Service

You're right about some good people. Stories of people leaving keys in cars in case someone needed to evacuate. And tbh - only 10 fatalities so far given the fire spread seems like a miracle. Context - we lost nearly 500 lives in 2019-20. So seems like to me if the fatalities stay low, you cannot complain about the response. Fireys save lives. Saving properties is a bonus.I know several people who were evacuated in LA and 3 who’ve lost their homes in Altadena. Whilst the loss hasn’t truly set in yet, they are grateful to be alive. One of them said it went from literally nothing to the whole street being razed in under 40min - that’s how quickly the firestorm blew through. Also said can’t remember any rain in the past 3 months, which no doubt has made it worse. Once sunshine was a selling point for Cali but as the planet warms maybe not so much. Lots of good people arranging food, shelter, clothing etc for people who’ve lost everything but what they were wearing. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s first or third world - people are people and right now many need help. Not really the time to be playing politics about who was right and wrong and have 20/20 hindsight.
Yeah the expanded contract (next 10 years) from last year now makes it 11 aircraft of different sizes and uses including fixed and rotary. The B737 tanker is more about that it can hold 72 people as well as the retardant, so it helps with forward deployment as situations begin to escalate. Chinook definitely more flexible in terms of quick access to water but as you say more concentrated drops so both have pros/cons.Tbf - they're not actually that useful in some respects. Maybe the only advantage is the dump zone can be wider with a plane due to speed. Which may or may not be an advantage pending fire intensity. Its why the RFS has more choppers than planes.
